Guide Review - Willie Nelson - 'It Always Will Be'
It Always Will Be is Willie's newest album for Lost Highway Records. As always there are a couple duets, a couple humorous songs and some classic, "serious" songs."It Always Will Be" opens up the CD on a soft, reflective note and sounds as if it could be part of the Stardust album from years ago. "Picture In A Frame" is a harmonica-laced ballad that is achingly beautiful. "Big Booty" is a humorous take on a "plus size woman" who says she's not going to fix him the foods that he likes anymore because she didn't like what he said to her. "I Didn't Come Here (And I Ain't Leavin')" originally was on Willie Nelson's Live And Kickin', and its nice to have this Scotty Emerick-penned track in studio form. "My Broken Heart Belongs To You" is a great ballad about a guy who can't get over his woman. "Tired" was previously recorded by it's writer, Toby Keith, and singer Lari White, but Willie's version absolutely kicks it in the dust. It is a heart-wrenching ballad about being down and out and being tired of everything life's given. The duet with Toby Keith on Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Midnight Rider" is nice and should get some spins at radio.
Willie Nelson has an ear for a hit song while also writing very good ones. His way with a song is amazing and unique. There truly is only one Willie Nelson. That's how "It Always Will Be."
