Guide Review - Brandon Rhyder - Conviction
Brandon Rhyder is a singer/songwriter from Texas who took a little detour in his musical career after graduating high school. Instead of going to school for music, he went to college and received a degree in industrial technology. Now he's released his third album. When "Freeze Frame Time" begins it's almost like you are opening your eyes to the music you're about to hear. Maybe with lyrics like "It's a beautiful morning to see the sun rise" that's a hard feeling not to have. The song is a perfect beginning to the album. Going through rough times wasn't the plan for a "Man Of Conviction" in the next song. "Don't you cry for me I made this bed" Brandon sings, along with "It's too late for an intervention." "Let The Good Times Roll" is about a man who doesn't want the night to end because he wants to sweep a lady off her feet.
Brandon covers the Keith Gattis song, "California" with great ease. "Losing The War" finds a man who is losing a battle with the bottle. "I'm not the man you married," he says before telling his wife to walk out the door because she deserves better. Later he regrets the words he said. After thirty years in a relationship "A Storm Blew In" and the four walls that were strong have now been torn down. In the last track, which is untitled, Brandon really reminds me Radney Foster with the simple musical backdrop.
