Guide Review - Roy Orbison - Crying

Roy Orbison's second album with Monument Records was called Crying. It was originally released in 1962. It's the second of the 3 re-releases from Legacy Records. It's hard to imagine that had Roy Orbison lived, he would have turned 70 years old this year. We lost him way too young in 1988 at the age of only 52. However, he did leave us with so many wonderful timeless recordings. The track list on Crying is just as the songs were on the original album.

The original liner notes are also included with this CD. It's also worth mentioning that this CD contains 4 bonus tracks in edition to the original 12 tracks. The bonus songs are, "Candy Man," "Let The Good Times Roll," "Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)" and "The Actress."

This CD also includes "running Scared." It would go on to become his first #1 hit record. Other hit songs from this legendary album are, "Crying," "Lana," "Love Hurts" The B-side of "Running Scared" He also does a nice cover of the Platters hit song "The Great Pretender." And it's worth mentioning that Roy and his writing partner wrote 9 of the 12 original songs on this CD. And what makes these CD's a true joy to listen to all over again is to be able to hear the album tracks that have long since been forgotten. That is, until now. Legacy has done a superb job in the care and remastering of these first 3 CD's from the Roy Orbison Monument catalogue.
