Danielle Peck - Danielle Peck

Big Machine

The Bottom Line

This is a fairly decent debut album. Danielle is easy to listen to, and her song choices fit her voice well. For a freshman album, it is a strong career start. The songs vary from bluesy to ballads to fun. It fits well in the current country music scene.

Guide Review - Danielle Peck - Danielle Peck

This may be the freshman album for Danielle Peck, but she is not a newcomer to country music. She has been writing songs since she was 10 and she started performing in bars when she joined a local band, Neon Moon, at 16. After several years of performing with local bands in the fair and festival circuits, the Coshocton, Ohio native made the move to Nashville to pursue her career. She waited tables and worked on her songwriting eventually making the contacts and landing a job with Barbara Orbison's Still Working Music. While there, she worked with staff songwriters and those sessions were the cornerstone of her album. She went through a rough spot when her Dreamworks label merged with Universal and she was dropped. However, Scott Borchetta recognized her talent and she was one of the first signed artists to his Big Machine label after he left Universal. Now the album dream is a reality.

Danielle co-wrote the majority of songs on the album. Her vocals are smooth, and flow over the lyrics with seemingly little effort. She has some love gone wrong songs with a humorous twist such as "Sucks to be You." She shows her honky tonk roots with "Honky Tonk Time" and brings a sultry feel to "I Don't." This is a solid debut for Danielle and shows off her talents with the pen as well as her vocal prowess. The album has an overall contemporary sound while maintaining a traditional base. I think that most people who like today's country would enjoy this album.
