Guide Review - Various Artists - Desperate Housewives Soundtrack

So, there's this TV show called "Desperate Housewives." Maybe you've heard of it? Well, now that you've seen the show, give a listen to the show's soundtrack. Each song on this CD just screams girl power! The CD starts off with a dialog from Mary Alice. Then the disc launches into the first music track. A song written by Jann Arden, and performed by SheDaisy called "God Bless the American Housewife." With artists like LeAnn Rimes, k.d. lang, Sara Evans, Joss Stone and more, each performer has packed the collection with powerful, new songs. For example, Shania Twain's "Shoes," a song that analogizes men to shoes ("a girl can't never have too many of 'em"). And along with the music, there are little snippets of dialog taken from the TV show that are mixed in between some of the tracks.

Some of the songs are old hits made new again. Songs like Martina McBride's "Harper Valley PTA," And Sara Evans' "One's On The Way." But it's worth noting that not all the songs/artists on this CD are country performers. There are several pop/rock artists who make very powerful contributions to this CD as well. Like the driving beat of "Band Of Gold" done by Anna Nalick. Other remakes on this CD are: Liz Phair "Mother's Little Helper," Indigo Girls "Mrs. Robinson," and Gloria Estefan "Young Hearts Run Free."

So, if you like your modern country mixed with a little modern pop and rock, you'll really enjoy this soundtrack from one of America's hottest TV shows.
