Dolly Parton - Love Songs

Sony Legacy

The Bottom Line

As far as compilation albums go, this isn't one of my favorites. But, it is a good album to put in the CD player to get that warm fuzzy feeling. Dolly has recorded thousands of songs in her stellar career and I'm sure it isn't easy picking through them to find a small sample to include on an album. There is a sampling of her love songs from her days with Porter Wagoner all the way through her chart topping love duets with Kenny Rogers.

Guide Review - Dolly Parton - Love Songs

Legacy is on a mission to release Love Song titles from several artists in different Genres. Dolly's CD contains love songs that started with her debut years into country music when she was performing with Porter Wagoner on his tv show. Their duets were very popular and the one included on this album is "Please Don't Stop Loving Me." As compilation albums go, this is not a real strong one. But, it's Dolly, so it can't be bad. Over her incredible career and thousands of songs that she has recorded, many have been love songs. Many have even been songs chosen by couples for their wedding ceremonies. Most notable of those is probably "I Will Always Love You," and it is definitely included on this disc. That song is also probably one of the most recognized by fans.

Solo, Dolly held her own in the love song department with whimsical tunes like "Love is Like A Butterfly." That song has always been one of my favorites that she has done. And then there were popish tunes like "Heartbreaker" and "Here You Come Again" while she was burning up the crossover charts. And of course the solid country music sound on songs like "We Used To." Kenny Rogers paired with Dolly for several songs. Included on this album are "Islands in the Stream" and "Real Love." The rest of the songs included cover past to present in her career and there are a couple on there that are harder to find now. Overall it is well worth a listen. It gives off vibes of love and is a great CD to relax to.
