Guide Review - Roy Orbison - In Dreams
The third and final CD thus far in the remastering and re-releasing of the Roy Orbison Monument catalogue is his 1963 album called In Dreams. Roy wrote 4 of the 12 original songs on this album, they include, "In Dreams," "Sunset," "(They Call You) Gigolette" and "Blue Bayou" later covered in the 1970's by Linda Ronstadt. This would be a very successful album for Roy as far as singles go. There were a total of 4 hit singles released from the 'In Dreams' album. These are, "In Dreams," "Blue Bayou," "Beautiful Dreamer" and "Shahdaroba."
The 4 bonus tracks on the CD In Dreams are, "Falling," "Distant Drums," "Mean Woman Blues" and a song that has since gone on to become a Christmas standard, "Pretty Paper." He also covers the Everly Brothers classic "All I Have To Do Is Dream" as well as the Platters hit single "My Prayer." Legacy Records does a stellar job with the remastering of this CD as well as the care they went to in preserving the original liner notes. It's nice to see these original Roy Orbison recordings in print again. If you've been waiting for more than just another collection of Roy's hits, well, wait no more. These CD's are a must have for anyone who loves the songs and singing style of one of rock music's legendary performers.
