Guide Review - Various Artists - Totally Country 5

So, ya say you want your country, but you only want the hits? Well, the fifth CD in the Totally Country series is packed with more big hits from the biggest names in country music today, 17 in total. Sometimes you want a CD that you can just pop in that has the songs you know and love without a lot of extra filler tracks that you don't know and might not want. And hey, variety is the spice of country music, or something like that.

The disc gets started with"Kerosene" by Miranda Lambert, and the hits just keep on comin'! The CD is a nice blend of up-tempo country rockers and slow ballads. One of my personal favorites on the disc is Ray Scott's "My Kind Of Music." This song should be a top 10 hit for Ray. Other standouts in this collection are, "XXL" by Keith Anderson, "You're Like Comin' Home" by Lonestar, and "Hicktown" by Jason Albean. You get everything from the fun and silly "Comin' To Your City" by Big & Rich to the emotional "God's Will" by Martina McBride. And if there's a clunker on the disc, it would have to be "I Play Chicken With the Train" by Cowboy Troy, featuring Big & Rich. Why this was chosen for this collection is beyond me.

There's not much more you can say about this CD other than it is a really great compilation of today's best country music on one disc. It's a fun CD to pop in for those quick road trips around town. It's like playing your favorite country radio station without a lot of annoying talking between the songs.
