The Warren Brothers - Barely Famous Hits

The Bottom Line

The Warren Brothers have persevered through many more ups and downs than most bands and have lived through it to tell their tales on their show “Barely Famous.” This CD is their collection of “Greatest Hits” and it’s a very good one at that. Do yourself a favor and give the Warren Brothers a shot. You’ll be glad you did.

Guide Review - Warren Brothers – Barely Famous Hits

In an unbelievably fickle era, the Warren Brothers have been signed to a recording deal with BNA Records three different times. Under the first signing the duo from Florida released “Beautiful Day In The Cold Cruel World,” and “King Of Nothing.” Then let go, the band teamed with Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore and released a few tracks to radio, including the Top 20 hit “Hey Mr. President,” and then saw their CD never get released. From there, the brothers went on to be judges on Nashville Star II and released a CD on 429 Records last year. That record, teamed with their CMT TV show “Barely Famous,” brought the Warrens back into the spotlight and the idea of this "Greatest Hits Collection" was born.

For those of you who missed the Warren Brothers their first time through the charts, this CD is a great introduction into their talent. The single released from this collection, “Change,” is also the theme song to their CMT show. It’s a great lead-off track. “What We Can’t Have” and “Greyhound Bus” are both thoughtful tracks while “Guilty” was the song that got me hooked on the unique talent of the Warren Brothers. Other standout tracks are the previously mentioned “Hey Mr. President,” “That’s The Beat Of A Heart” (With Sara Evans), and the autobiographical “Sell A Lot Of Beer.”

With 12 tracks (most of which were never hits) “Barely Famous Hits” is a fun and strong collection of songs.
