Guide Review - Rhonda Vincent - Written in the Stars
Since I became a Rhonda Vincent fan, I've wanted to buy one of her country albums, but had some trouble locating a decent copy. Thanks to Koch Records, all of the bluegrass queen's fans can grab a reissued copy of 'Written In The Stars.' The overall sound is early 90s country music, which happily reminds me of the time I started listening to the genre. When push came to shove, Rhonda asked "What Else Could I Do" but fall in love? Her broken heart was on the mend but once he came into the picture, her resistance broke down & she fell for him deeply. A love "Written In The Stars" wasn't meant to be when it came to one of the lady's past relationships. "Some relationships are bound to fail" she sings. The upbeat song, "Ain't That Love," picks up the album's pace & sends out a message that love can conquer all through laughter & tears.
I was already familiar with Rhonda's bluegrass version of "Passin' Of The Train," but the country version is just as good (and two-step worthy). "I Do My Cryin' At Night," Rhonda sings in the next song. Throughout the day as she sees her friends she keeps her pain inside but at night when she is all alone she lets everything out. "I'm Not Over You" is another song that I was already familiar with, as it can be found on Rhonda's 'The Storm Still Rages' album. It amazes me how nice Rhonda sounds with country music as the backdrop but I'm glad she turned to bluegrass because you can tell that is her main musical passion.
