Hot New Country Songs

As befits the sleepy holiday season, this week's country charts don't look staggeringly differently from those of last week. Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean, Rascall Flatts, and David Nail are exactly where they were seven days ago -- holding down the #1 to #4 spots. The big news is the continued drop by Lady Antebellum's single "We Owned the Night," which two weeks ago held the #3 spot and now has declined from #7 to #8. Meanwhile, one of Eric Church's best songs, "Drink in My Hand," continues to make gains, nudging up from #6 to #5.

Top 5 Country Albums

  2. Scott McCreery - Clear as Day
  3. Jason Aldean - My Kinda Party
  4. Toby Keith - Clancy's Tavern

Scott McCreery and Lady Antebellum continue to play musical chairs with the #1 and #2 spots, this time with Lady Antebellum leading our end-of-the-year lineup. Not surprisingly, Own the Night is one of the top selling country albums of 2011. And -- with the exception of poor Toby Keith -- the same can be said for the rest of our the top five country albums. In particular, Luke Bryan Tailgates & Tanlines (one of the year's best albums) continues to show strength. It moved up from #7 to #5, eclipsing Taylor Swift's recently released Speak Now: World Tour Live collection, which dropped from #6 to #4. Likewise, Swift's mega-selling Speak Now sank from #6 to #8.

Lady Antebellum conquers the pop radio charts as well, with "Just a Kiss" advancing from #28 to #24. Zac Brown Band and Jason Aldean aren't as lucky, with Brown's "Keep Me in Mind" sinking from #21 to #26, and Aldean's "Tattoos on this Town" falling off from #25 to #30. But David Nail remains steady as every, retaining his #31 ranking from last week. That's it for this year's country music charts! Have a happy New Year!
