Top 10 Country Singles
Craig Morgan holds onto that top spot on the charts for a second week. Well, can ya blame him? It's his first No. 1 song, with "That's What I Love About Sunday." It's really close in spins with Sugarland's "Baby Girl" which sits at No. 2 this week, moving up two from last week. I am going to guess that Craig may hold on for a third week. But, don't be surprised to see that band from Atlanta at the top instead. At No. 3, moving up two spots, is Kenny Chesney's "Anything But Mine." Josh Gracin's "Nothin' to Lose" drops two spots to No. 4, and Rascal Flatts "Bless the Broken Road" also drops two spots to No. 5. Positions 6 - 8 remain the same as last week -- Brooks & Dunn's "It's Getting Better All the Time," Montgomery Gentry's "Gone," and Billy Dean's "Let Them Be Little." Moving up one this week is Jo Dee Messina, with that killer song "My Give a Damn's Busted," and Lee Ann Womack rounds out the Top 10 with "I May Hate Myself in the Morning," which also moves up one spot.
Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Rascal Flatts' "Fast Cars and Freedom" does what fast cars do.. it zips quickly up the charts, nearly tying Keith Urban's meteoric rise of 17 spots last week, as the guys move up by 15, from No. 56 to No. 41. In its third week on the charts, Brian McComas' "The Middle Of Nowhere" moves up by 9, from No. 54 to No. 43, becoming our second fastest-rising song this week. Tied for third, moving up 8 spots, is the aforementioned Mr. Urban's "Memories of Us," moving from No. 38 to No. 30, and Van Zant's "Help Somebody" moving from No. 44 to No. 36.
The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Alan Jackson's latest addition is "The Talkin' Song Repair Blues," which debuts this week at No. 45. At No. 52 is LeAnn Rimes "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way," which is my favorite track off her This Woman album. It debuts at No. 52. Cowboy Troy releases his first single from his upcoming album, called "I Play Chicken With The Train," debuting at No. 56. If you thought Big & Rich weren't country, don't even bother to try and figure out how this song is country. ;) I think it's catchy, but it's not country to me. Capitol's Amber Dotson, who recently was the opening act on George Strait's tour debuts "I'll Try Anything" at No. 59.
Top 10 Country Album Charts
The big news this week is Miranda Lambert's Kerosene which debuts at No. 1 this week, making her the fifth debut act to do this. She joins Wynonna (1992), Billy Ray Cyrus (1992), LeAnn Rimes (1996), and fellow label mates, Buddy Jewell (2003) and Gretchen Wilson (2004). Way to go Miranda, that's awesome! This is a terrific album, and I highly recommend everyone go out and buy it. It's gonna be on my Top 10 for the year, no doubt. Remaining at No. 2 is Rascal Flatts with Feels Like Today. Moving up two spots is the Totally Country 4 compilation. At No. 4, dropping three spots is Kenny Chesney's Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair, and at No. 5, dropping one, is Shania Twain's Greatest Hits album. At No. 6, dropping three is Gretchen Wilson's Here For The Party. Tim McGraw's Live Like You Were Dyin' is at No. 7, while buddy Kenny Chesney moves up one, with When The Sun Goes Down is at No. 8. At No. 9, dropping one place is Toby Keith's Greatest Hits 2 album, and rounding out the Top 10 is Brad Paisley's Mud on the Tires, which moves up four spots to claim the spot.
