On the Charts - Billboard Country Singles and Albums

For week of June 10, 2006

From Jennifer Webb, for About.com

Top 10 Country Singles
Dierks Bentley celebrates a second week at No. 1 for his song, "Settle For A Slow Down," while Kenny Chesney's "Summertime" jumps two spots to land in the No. 2 spot. LeAnn Rimes seems to be stuck at No. 3 again with "Something's Gotta Give," while advancing a single spot to No. 4 is "The Last Day Of My Life" by Phil Vassar, and Jason Aldean drops three spots to No. 5 with his song, "Why." Remaining at No. 6 for another week is Tim McGraw's "When The Stars Go Blue." Brad Paisley creeps up one spot to No. 7 with the song, "The World," Carrie Underwood makes a significant four-spot jump to No. 8 with "Don't Forget To Remember Me," and Joe Nichols' "Size Matters (Someday)" stays put at No. 9. With a gain of three places, Keith Anderson's "Everytime I Hear Your Name" closes out the Top 10. I think next week's No. 1 will be a race between Kenny Chesney and LeAnn Rimes - with Rimes being the winner.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Brooks & Dunn (with Sheryl Crow)'s "Building Bridges" jumped an amazing eighteen spots this week - landing on No. 41. No other song even came close to moving that fast.

The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Hot off the heals of scoring his first No. 1 song, Jack Ingram debuts single number two, "Love You," this week at No. 52.

Top 10 Country Album Charts
No eighth week at No. 8 for Rascal Flatts because the Dixie Chicks debuted their album, Taking The Long Way, at No. 1. Rascal Flatts' Me And My Gang dropped to No. 2. Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts is still hanging out in the No. 3 position. No. 4 finds The Wrecker's debut album, Stand Still, Look Pretty, while No. 5 is occupied by Toby Keith's White Trash With Money. Tim McGraw dropped four spots to No. 6 with Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: Reflected, Keith Urban's Be Here gets comfortable in the No. 7 spot, and Alan Jackson's Precious Memories settles in at No. 8. Brooks & Dunn experienced a popularity surge for sure this week, as their Hillbilly Deluxe album jumped ten spots to No. 9. No. 10 is Johnny Cash's The Legend Of Johnny Cash.

Whats New on the Album Charts This Week?
Other than the No. 1 debut by the Dixie Chicks (Taking The Long Way) and The Wreckers at No. 4 (Stand Still, Look Pretty), there were two other albums hitting the charts for the first time this week: Country Hits by Various Artists at No. 75 and the Prairie Home Companion Soundtrack at No. 73.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for June 10, 2006.
