Top 10 Country Singles
Just as I predicted last week, Toby Keith is still sitting in the No. 1 position with "As Good As I Once Was," while Rascal Flatts still holds on to No. 2 with "Fast Cars And Freedom." Sugarland's "Something More" (No. 3) managed to beat Faith Hill's "Mississippi Girl" (No. 4) for a second week while George Strait also remains in his spot of No. 5. Brooks & Dunn "Play Something Country" as they move up two spots this week to land on No. 6. Keith Urban's "Making Memories Of Us" moves to No. 7, while Brad Paisley offers some "Alcohol" to radio listeners as he sits in the No. 9 spot. The Top 10 is rounded out by "Don't Worry 'Bout A Thing," from Shedaisy. Toby Keith will probably make it to No. 1 again next week but he better watch out for Sugarland.
Moving Up at the Speed of Light
There are plenty of songs moving up the charts this week with many of them jumping five spots or more. Craig Morgan's "Redneck Yacht Club" moved from No. 25 to No. 20 and Jason Aldean's "Hicktown" landed on No. 21 from No. 26, while the really big seven spot movers and shakers were Carrie Underwood (No. 52) and Jo Dee Messina's "Delicious Surprise (I Believe It)" (No. 32).
The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Keith Anderson debuts his song, "XXL," this week and it lands at No. 50. Dierks Bentley beats Keith with his song "Come A Little Closer" landing one spot better at No. 49. Jessica Andrews beats the boys with her No. 46 debut, "Summer Girl," but not for long as Keith Urban leaves them all in his dust with "Better Life" sitting in the No. 43. spot.
Top 10 Country Album Charts
Though George Strait still remains No. 1 with his album, Somewhere Down In Texas, Rascal Flatts moves into the No. 2 spot with Feels Like Today. Honkytonk University, by Toby Keith, lands on No. 3 right next door to No. 4 position holder Keith Urban's Be Here album. Sugarland moves up a spot with their No. 5 album, Twice the Speed of Life. Willie Nelson's Countryman release debuts at No. 6 and his friend Toby Keith holds on to No. 7 with Greatest Hits 2. Gretchen Wilson wasn't content with last week's No. 10 spot so Here For The Party moved to No. 8. Kenny Chesney's No. 9 album, When The Sun Goes Down, is sitting right next to Big & Rich's Horse Of A Different Color, which dropped three places to No. 10.
New Album Releases
I've already mentioned that Willie Nelson's new album, Countryman, debuted at No. 6, but another entry into the charts this week is the Del McCoury album, The Company We Keep, hitting the No. 59 spot.
NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for July 30, 2005.
