Top 10 Country Singles
Toby Keith made it to No. 1 again this week with "As Good As I Once Was," but Sugarland is closing in on Toby with their No. 2 song, "Something More." Faith Hill's "Mississippi Girl" sits at No. 4 for a third week, while Brooks & Dunn move up one spot to No. 5 with "Play Something Country." Brad Paisley's single, "Alcohol,"
hits No. 6 (up two from last week) and George Strait surprisingly drops down two spots to No. 7 with "You'll Be There." Tim McGraw is hot on George's heels with the No. 9 song, "Do You Want Fries With That." Shedaisy's "Don't Worry 'Bout A Thing" landed on No. 9 and Keith Urban rounds out the Top 10 with "Making Memories Of Us." Not only does Toby Keith have to worry about Sugarland next week, but he also has to worry about Faith Hill because she is making major gains in radio spins. My prediction, though, is that he will make it to No. 1 again next week.
Moving Up at the Speed of Light
There was an abundance of four and five spot jumps this week, so let's start with the lowest number and work our way up. Four spot jumps include: Trace Adkins' "Arlington" (No. 20), LeAnn Rimes' "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" (No. 24), Jo Dee Messina's "Delicious Surprise (I Believe It)" (No. 28), Ryan Shupe & The Rubber Band's "Dream Big" (No. 30), Neal McCoy's "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On" (No. 31), and Jace Everett's No. 52 song, "That's The Kind Of Love I'm In." As for the five spot jumps we have: Lonestar's "You're Like Coming Home" (No. 25), Keith Anderson's "XXL" (No. 45), and Jeff Bates' "Good People" sits at No. 48. Soon-to-be Opry member Dierks Bentley has this week's highest jump (seven spaces) landing on No. 42 with his song, "Come A Little Closer."
The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Five new songs debuted on the charts this time around: Keni Thomas (Featuring Blackhawk) with No. 60 song, "Gloryland," Rhonda Vincent And The Rage's No. 59 song, "I've Forgotten You," Josh Turner's "Your Man" (No. 56), and Catherine Britt & Elton John's "Where We Say Goodbye" (No. 49). The hot shot debut is No. 44's "She Didn't Have Time," by Terri Clark.
Top 10 Country Album Charts
Toby Keith re-claims his No. 1 position with Honkytonk University, knocking George Strait's Somewhere Down In Texas album to No. 3. Rascal Flatts remain at No. 2 for a second week with their album, Feels Like Today. Keith Urban's Be Here album remains at No. 4, while Sugarland also stays put at No. 5 with Twice the Speed of Life. Toby Keith's Greatest Hits 2 moves up from No. 7 to No. 6 and Gretchen Wilson's Here For The Party moves from No. 8 to No. 7 . No. 8 is When The Sun Goes Down, by Kenny Chesney, No. 9 is Countryman by Willie Nelson, and the No. 10 spot belongs to Big & Rich's Horse Of A Different Color.
Re-Entering The Charts
Cross Canadian Ragweed's album, Soul Gravy, re-enters the charts landing at No. 74, while Conway Twitty's 25 Number Ones made it to No. 73.
NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for August 6, 2005.
