Top 10 Country Singles
As I predicted, Montgomery Gentry is at No. 1 for the second week with their single, "Something To Be Proud Of." Keith Urban's "Better Life" jumped two spots to land at No. 2, while Craig Morgan's "Redneck Yacht Club." seems to be stuck on No. 3. "Somebody's Hero," by Jamie O'Neal, makes it to No. 4 and Sara Evans' "A Real Fine Place To Start" drops three places to No. 5. Josh Gracin stays at No. 6 with "Stay With Me (Brass Bed)." The No. 7 position belongs to LeAnn Rimes' song, "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way," No. 8 is Toby Keith's "As Good As I Once Was," and No. 9 is Gretchen Wilson with "All Jacked Up." Rounding out this week's Top 10 is "Skin (Sarabeth)" by Rascal Flatts. With Montgomery Gentry losing steam, I would guess that next week's No. 1 will belong to Keith Urban and his song "Better Life."
Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Tim McGraw's "My Old Friend" jumped ten spots to No. 45 this week and George Strait's "She Let Herself Go" also jumped ten landing on No. 23. There is another pair of artists who jumped the same amount of spaces - Brad Paisley's "When I Get Where I'm Going" (No. 38) and Trace Adkins' "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" (No. 36) jumped twelve places. Van Zant, however, managed to move thirteen spaces to No. 46 with "Nobody Gonna Tell Me What To Do."
The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
There are four new songs debuting on the charts this week: Jack Ingram's "Wherever You Are" at No. 60, "Attitude," by Wynonna, at No. 58, Danielle Peck's "I Don't" at No. 53, and Miranda Lambert's "Kerosene" at No. 50.
Top 10 Country Album Charts
This week Gretchen Wilson takes the top spot debuting at No. 1 with All Jacked Up and Wynonna debuts at No. 2 with Her Story: Scenes of a Lifetime. Trisha Yearwood drops to No. 3 with her album, Jasper County. No. 4 is the Rascal Flatts album, Feels Like Today, while No. 5 is Sugarland's Twice the Speed of Life. Faith Hill is at No. 6 with Fireflies. Keith Urban drops two spots to land on No. 7 with Be Here, Brad Paisley's Time Well Wasted at No. 8 also drops two spots, and Gretchen Wilson remains at No. 9 with Here For The Party. Brooks & Dunn re-enter the Top 10 with No. 10's Hillbilly Deluxe.
New Album Releases
This is a week full of new album releases. There are a total of seven: Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives at No. 75 with Soul's Chapel, Cherryholmes' self-titled album at No. 74, and Kath Mattea's Right Out Of Nowhere at No. 73. Luke Stricklin's debut album, American By God's Amazing Grace, made it to No. 65 and the
Country's Got Heart compilation made it to No. 39. The biggest debuts of the week are Wynonna's Her Story: Scenes of a Lifetime at No. 2 and Gretchen Wilson's All Jacked Up at No. 1.
NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for October 15, 2005.
