On the Charts - Billboards Country Singles and Albums

For week of October 22, 2005

From Shelly Fabian, About.com Guide

Top 10 Country Singles
Keith Urban is celebrating his No. 1 victory with "Better Life," while Montgomery Gentry drop to No. 2 with "Something To Be Proud Of." Craig Morgan finds his song, "Redneck Yacht Club," in the No. 3 spot yet again this week. Jamie O'Neal also stays in the same spot (No. 4) with "Somebody's Hero." Josh Gracin's "Stay With Me (Brass Bed)" jumps one spot to No. 5 and LeAnn Rimes' "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" lands on No. 6. Sara Evans' "A Real Fine Place To Start" drops to No. 7, while Rascal Flatts' "Skin (Sarabeth)" hit No. 8, and Kenny Chesney makes his way into the Top 10 with No. 9's "Who You'd Be Today." Jason Aldean finds his way back to the Top 10 with No. 10's "Hicktown." Keith Urban is pretty popular, but my guess is that Craig Morgan's "Redneck Yacht Club" will finally bust out of the No. 3 spot and make it all the way to No. 1.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Three songs jumped a total of six spaces: Brad Paisley's "When I Get Where I'm Going" at No. 32, Trace Adkins' "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" at No. 30, and Sugarland's "Just Might (Make Me Believe)" at No. 28. The biggest jump, however, goes to Tim McGraw's song, "My Old Friend," moving a total of twelve spaces to land at No. 33.

The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Many new songs are hitting the air waves this week. The Dixie Chicks debut a new single, <B>"I Hope," and it hit No. 60, while "Way Down," by Bobby Pinson, made it to No. 58. Newcomer Trent Tomlinson made it to No. 56 with "Drunker Than Me." Montgomery Gentry did one spot better with No. 55's "She Don't Tell Me To." No. 50 goes to Gretchen Wilson's "I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today," No. 49 goes to Brooks & Dunn with "Believe," and Garth Brooks shatters yet another record with his highest country single debut: No. 18's "Good Ride Cowboy."

Top 10 Country Album Charts
Sara Evans' Real Fine Place debuted in the No. 1 spot, while Gretchen Wilson's All Jacked Up dropped a single spot to No. 2. Faith Hill's Fireflies jumps three spots to No. 3. Chris Cagle's new album, Anywhere But Here, debuts at No. 4. Rascal Flatts' Feels Like Today dropped to No. 5. Another debut in the Top 10 is Cross Canadian Ragweed's album, Garage, at No. 6. Keith Urban stays in the No. 7 spot with Be Here, Jasper County, by Trisha Yearwood, dropped three spaces to No. 8, and Sugarland hit No. 9 with Twice the Speed of Life. Rounding out the Top 10 is Her Story: Scenes of a Lifetime, by Wynonna.

New Album Releases
There were two albums debuted this week that didn't make it to the Top 10: Clint Black's Drinkin' Songs & Other Logic at No. 36 and Little Big Town's The Road To Here at No. 17. No. 6 goes to Cross Canadian Ragweed's album, Garage, No. 4 is Chris Cagle's Anywhere But Here, and the hot shot debut goes to Sara Evans' Real Fine Place album at No. 1.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for October 22, 2005.
