Dale Watson News and Tour Dates
Dale writes: I have been touring hard, and with gas prices going through the roof it's a little tough. Below you'll find the new tour dates. The east coast is our next stomping ground, and in July we hit the west coast. Please, please, please let's get the word out. Often I'm asked, especially by west coast folks, why I do not tour there. The answer is purely financial. The gas, hotels and the pay the rooms offer are so low, it is impossible to tour without suffering a huge loss. I want this email to be a positive one. I am touring East and West and though I will probably lose money, I want to do it because of the many folks who have asked me to come out there. Maybe if we have a good showing for the club owners we can get on a better track record for the future. The past has proved me to not have a lot of fan support and so the club owners are reluctant on many levels. If all we do is show this type of music has fan support, then it would change a lot of club owners' thinking about the validity of booking these type of shows. More...
Country Radio Braces for Keith Urban Single
Keith Urban has had four #1 singles, including Somebody Like You, which held the top spot for a record eight consecutive weeks, and his last seven single releases have all gone Top 5 on the Billboard Country Singles Chart. After the success of his multi-platinum album Golden Road, Urban did what he does best, he re-entered the studio and began writing and recording new music.
On June 14, Capitol Nashville will release Urbans latest single, the first from his as of yet untitled new album. Days Gone By, co-written with Monty Powell (Who Wouldnt Wanna Be Me) and co-produced with Grammy Award-winner Dann Huff, is the follow up to the final single release from Golden Road, the #1 track Youll Think Of Me.
Kenny Chesney Cancels CMA Music Festival Show
Kenny Chesney returned to the concert stage last night in Phoenix to resume the second leg of his just kicked off Guitars, Tiki Bars & A Whole Lot of Love Tour, following a canceled date due to laryngitis. Chesney had hoped to be able to be Thursday's opening night "surprise" at the CMA Music Festival, but his doctor has grounded him to avoid the wear and tear of flying back and forth across the country twice in less than 24 hours.
"Never having canceled a show like this before, I'm a little spooked by what happened -- and since we've got so many dates and are going to so many cities, I want to be cautious so this doesn't turn into a chronic problem, said Chesney. No one is more disappointed than I am about not being there, but hopefully if I haven't already been in your backyard, I'll be there before too long -- and you can come out and party with us in your town."
