Buffett Sails Into Country Territory With Long-Awaited Album Out Tomorrow

Tropical singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett charts new waters on July 13 with the release of his latest album, License To Chill, featuring country classics, new Buffett material and duets with Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, George Strait, Toby Keith and plenty more of the hottest stars in country music today. The album's debut single, a Buffett-ized version of the Hank Williams classic "Hey Good Lookin'," which he performs with Chesney, Jackson, Strait, Keith, and Black, is already hovering near the top of the country charts (currently #10 Billboard and #9 in R&R.) Grand Ole Opry Hosts Dukes of Hazzard Night

Country music's most famous show is teaming up with the cast of one of America's biggest hit TV series of the past 30 years to celebrate Dukes of Hazzard Night at the Grand Ole Opry on July 17. Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke), Sonny Shroyer (Deputy Enos Strate), Rick Hurst (Deputy Cletus Hogg), and Ben Jones (Cooter Davenport) will be on hand.

The Dukes cast will make numerous appearances during the evening's Opry shows, serving as guest announcers and introducing Opry artists throughout the night. Joining the Dukes cast for a rousing rendition of the show's theme song, "Good Ol' Boys," a no.1 hit for Waylon Jennings, will be life-long Jennings fan Andy Griggs.

The cast will also make an appearance in The Opry Shop to sign merchandise and pose or photos with fans from 5 to 6 p.m.

Mark Chesnutt Tapped to Perform At Republican Convention

Mark Chesnutt, Vivaton Recording artist, has received the privileged invitation to perform at a private party hosted by the Republican Texas Delegation to the Republican National Convention the first week in September. As part of the Republican Convention activities that week, Chesnutt will join the elite group of representatives at the black tie affair on Thursday evening, September 2, 2004 at BB King’s Blues Club.

Mark is markedly recognized in high regard; this is his third distinctive honor. He performed at the Governor’s Inaugural Ball for George W. Bush as well as the Presidential Inauguration--a Black Tie and Boots affair--four years ago.

Chesnutt Performs For Fallen Police

On June 17, three police officers were shot in the line of duty in Birmingham, Alabama. En route back to Nashville last Thursday, Vivaton Recording artist Mark Chesnutt stopped in Birmingham to offer his condolences and perform in a short show on behalf of the grieving families. Chesnutt helped the sponsoring station, WDXB-102.5-The Bull, to raise over $3,000 for the Birmingham, AL Fraternal Order of Police at a special concert to benefit the families of the three fallen officers. He performed an acoustic set at the West City Disco Rodeo and in addition to lending his time and talent, Chesnutt donated a variety of personally autographed items. All proceeds from the intimate event went to the families of the victims.

Ray Price Gets ‘Back-Faced’ Last Weekend, Speaks Out Against Racial Brouhaha

It was not your typical show Friday night in Lafayette, LA for Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price. Instead, controversy arose during the July 9th show and brought big headlines when it was discovered that the African-American comedian Willie P. Richardson who opened for Ray Price and is scheduled to open more shows this summer, was not so African-American.
