Trace Adkins Fan Club was held at the Belcourt Theatre on June 7th. The Trace Chasers arrived at 6:00 am for the 8:30 am sold out event. Question cards were handed out for you to put down any questions you might want to ask Trace and he was going to pick them at random.
Due to an eBay auction where someone was trying to sale a fan club ticket for $200, all ID's, membership cards and tickets were checked by Johanna, Trace's Fan Club President. I want to thank Johanna for this because I am sure it was a lot of extra effort to check 250 people.
Trace pulled up in his Chevy truck and the crowd went wild. He went to his bus to wait for the party to begin.
Gifts and Breakfast
As you entered you were presented with an autographed Trace Adkins back pack cooler. Breakfast consisted of packaged rolls and donuts and fresh fruit and a drink.
Trace sings and answers questions
Trace took the stage and told us that he was going to just talk and sing songs. He told us that because we all knew his songs, he was doing other people's songs. He said he had been working on Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take the Wheel." He said, "you know she sat at #1 for 6 weeks and "Honky tonk Badonkadonk sat at #2." Then, he said, "Jesus just would not let go of the wheel!!"Someone asked when he was going to do Southern Hallelujah? He said I did that on the last album, you should hear it is pretty good.
Questions were read off the cards or asked from the audience, and Trace answered with quick wit and funny one liners.
He then invited three of his band members to the stage. Brian, Greg, and Butch accompanied him on a few songs.
He did "The Way I Am," "The Rest of Mine," and "Ladies Love Country Boys."
While doing the songs he would talk and take questions. He did say how the band surprised him in Wendover. He started "I Wanna Feel Something" and felt this presence next to him and look over and there was his keyboard player, Butch. Butch had gone out and bought a sax for the song and learned to play it, and no one told Trace about it. The band just did it. Way to go Butch!
He was asked about the video for "I Wanna Feel Something," and he said it is completed, but they are just tweaking it, and it should be out in the next couple weeks. So be watching for it. It should be a good one.
Time for door prizes
He then drew ticket stubs out for door prizes. They gave away autographed drum sticks and the shirt that Trace wore on the shoot for "Dangerous Man." The lucky winner was handed the shirt by Trace after he signed it at the stage for her.Lastly, every member then lined up to get their picture taken with Trace.
