After this, everyone leaves the stage except Dean, who is left alone to get us into the Christmas spirit.
He tells the story of three guys at Christmas time that were drinking eggnog.. not the plain kind, but the kind with booze in it. And they end up having too much of it. Dean says, "You know what happens when you have too much, right?" and everyone says "They drove?" and he says "You know this story? Yeah, they drove, and you know what happens when they drive after drinking, right?" and everyone said "They crashed." Dean said "Yep, and they died. So, they're standing in front of St. Peter and he says I can let you in but you have to tell me something about Christmas. The first guy reaches in his pocket and takes out a red ribbon and says 'I decorate with red ribbon every year.' The second one takes out his keys and shakes them, and says 'Jingle Bells.' The third one takes out a women's red bikini underwear, and St. Peter says 'What does that have to do with Christmas?' and the guy says 'They're Carol's.'"
The guys come back after this and launch into some of their Christmas music. They play "Santa Claus is Coming To Town," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and Keech's favorite, "Little Drummer Boy."
Next was time for a few more covers, first with the Eagles' "Lyin' Eyes," then a fun version of "Margaritaville." Richie changed the words where it says "It must be my fault," he would say "It must be Dean's fault," "It must be Keech's fault," "It must be Mike's fault." And on the part where it says "Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home," he sang "Cut my heel, had to get a tetnus shot, and go home."
The next part of the show was a tribute to Alabama, for as Richie said "They wanted to grow up to be Alabama." They sang a medley of Alabama tunes -- "I'm in a Hurry," "If You Wanna Play in Texas," "Take Me Down," and "Roll On 18 Wheeler."
The final three songs were "I'm Already There," dedicated to the troops, "What About Now" and "No News."
They came back for an encore of what Richie called "my favorite song of all time," "Wildfire." Then they sang another oldie, "Danny's Song," and Richie said Dean wrote the next song cuz he was in a heap of trouble, and that was "Women Rule the World."
The band was introduced next, and then they sang probably their biggest hit, "Amazed." As that died down, they went back into a reprise of "Front Porch Looking In," and that was it for the night.
Wonderful show. Was 2 1/2 hours of a lot of fun, a lot of Lonestar hits, plus several covers, several Christmas songs, and some silliness.
I'd never seen Lonestar do an acoustic show before, but if they ever do another one around here, I'll be there in a heartbeat. It was an awesome time.
