He dedicated "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out" to all the families of our fallen heroes.
When Chris noticed that the room was full of closely spaced tables, he said "Intimate settings don't work on the "Play It Loud" Tour. And he got everyone up on their feet with "Country, By the Grace of God."
For his encore, he came back without his band at first and played Elton John's "Rocket Man." He then said that he had played 600 shows in 3 years and that's why he ended up going on vocal rest. But, he said that it was a blessing in disguise because he got to concentrate on his new album. And then he sang his new single, "Miss Me Baby." I love this song and think it will put Chris back at the top of the charts. It's basically a kiss off song. The girl and guy broke up and the girl is with someone new, and the guy says "I hope that when you're with him, you remember what we had and that he'll never be good enough." That kind of thing. He got to this one line in the song that talked about the couple when they were together, coming home and the girl left the keys in the door and took the guys hand and pulled him down on the kitchen floor. When he sang that, the audience went wild and Chris was taken aback. He said, "I gotta sing *that* line again!" And he did, after composing himself.
The band returned for "What a Beautiful Day," and he performed his final song after introcucing it in what he calls his "preachers voice," where he would speak the lines in the chorus -- "Scars heal... Glory fades..." Yep, it was "Chicks Dig It."
This was a great show. I'm so glad I finally was able to see Chris. He was well worth the wait.
