It's been a while since I last saw Terri Clark in Concert. She always puts on a great show. She's so personable, and she engages the audience. I always enjoy her shows, and this show as no exception.
Terri played at the Win-River Casino in Redding, CA on February 27, 2007. The weather was awful outside, but Terri was worth facing the elements for.
Most artists start their show out with a big hit to grab the crowd, and get them up on their feet, but Terri opted to start the show with a brand new song from her upcoming album, called "In My Next Life." The thing about this song is that it's so good, you feel like you know it, and it doesn't take long to get into the song, and sing right along.
Two more of her big hits followed with "Easy on the Eyes," and "Better Things To Do." I love when she changes one of the lines in the song to say "You don't know how many times I've sung this song." Cute!
Terri thanked everyone for attending the show, (which was sold out) and said teasingly how she was loving the sunny California weather. She said she just came up from Calistoga, which is wine country, and they got to visit a vineyard. She mentioned filling up the bus with wine.
Introducing what would be a medley of her hits, she started with "Emotional Girl," and she told people, "If you know the words, sing along. If you don't know the words, drink some beer and make them up." Other songs that were part of the medley were "If I Were You," "A Little Gasoline," and "When Boy Meets Girl."
Terri told us about her upcoming single, which would be the first from her new album. The single is due out on April 2nd. She said that she has talked in the past about being mad, and about lying, and being emotional, and now she wants to talk 'dirty!'" The name of the song is "Dirty Girl," and I actually think it is going to be added much sooner than April. It's a lot of fun to listen to and sing along with, and I think it should do well for her.
One of my favorite parts of the show is when Terri removes her hat and sits on a stool to play a few songs acoustically. When she's done, the stage hand comes back out and gives her her hat back. She said "If you wonder if I'm a diva, that's my costume change." She said Reba taught her everything she knows. In her best Reba-voice, she said "Terri, that's the smartest thing you ever did was wear that hat."
She ended with "Girls Lie Too," and thanked everyone for coming, but you knew she HAD to come back. Everyone was on their feet yelling and clapping, and Terri obliged with an encore of "I Wanna Do It All," and lastly "Hard to Handle."
Terri sure does have a great time on stage, and she and her band really mesh well. New to the band, and I'm not sure if it's permanent, or just for a few dates, but she had Anita Cochran ("What If I Said") in her band. Very cool.
I highly recommend everyone that has ever liked any of Terri's music to check out Terri's show when she comes to your town. You'll have a night of great music, fun, and will be truly entertained by Miss Terri.
