My friend Dianne and I took a little road trip to Reno, NV, which is about a 3 hour drive from her home to see the CMT Change for Change Tour, starring Sugarland, Little Big Town and Jake Owen.
We arrived early in the afternoon, and after checking in our hotel and resting a bit, we had some dinner, then made our way over to the venue to pick up our tickets, and meet & greet passes for Little Big Town. We had about a 30 minute wait for the doors to open, but after they did, we found our seats in the 14th row on the center aisle, and sat down for a bit.
Our meet & greet was scheduled for 7:45, and after meeting with the group, and getting our photo and autograph, we quickly headed back to our seats. No sooner did we enter the arena than the lights went down and it was pitch black. Of all the times for a show to start right on time!! We had a heck of a time finding our way up the aisles and to our seat in the darkness, but got seated and watched as Jake Owen took the stage to the cheers of the crowd.
Jake is very flirty on stage. He makes a lot of audience contact, waving and winking at people. I've seen him once before, at CMA Fest, but this time, he was without the sunglasses, so I got to see his pretty eyes as well. He started his set with "The Bad in Me." Not sure what the second song was. Maybe something that he's working on for his next album. The third song was his current single, "Something About a Woman."
Jake said he enjoyed the day, as it was nice weather for the end of October. He said he got to go to In-And-Out Burger. I cracked up at that. Next was his first Top 10 song, "Startin' With Me." He got quite a bit of applause as he started this one, and people were singing along.
Jake said that his daddy told him that money's nothing, and love is everything. This lead him to write his next song. Again, it's something new. I think it may have been called "Don't Think I Can't Love You." Another new song was next, called "I Love Women," I guess. He didn't give the names of the songs. Then, he ended with his debut single, and the one that everyone knew, "Yee Haw."
Jake didn't talk too much, but I didn't come to hear him talk, so I was happy with just what he did. Great job!
