Again, Phil thanked everyone for coming out to help celebrate the release of his new album Prayer of a Common Man which will be released to stores on April 22, 2008.
Vassar introduced the next song "I'm Alright" as a song he wrote in the car heading back home from Nashville while thinking of a friend he hadn't seen in a long time. The next song, "For A Little While" was written from the inspiration of his hometown.
Phil shared before playing "American Child" that he wrote it after his daughter, who was 3 years old at the time had been asking questions about him as a child after seeing a picture of Phil in his baseball uniform on his porch. Her curiosity about his childhood, his dad and his grandfather who served in WWII inspired him to write the song.
Vassar closed out his set with a song he said he pulled out of his archive since he wrote it 11 or 12 years ago and is the last song on the Prayer Of A Common Man album. Phil shared it's where he's at in his life now then sang "Crazy Life."
This Phil Vassar performance celebrating the April 22nd release of his new album, Prayer of a Common Man will be aired on May 3, 2008 as the first episode in the new GAC series called "Origins." Even though we were present at this taping, we're both looking forward to watching the televised show to see exactly which of Phil's stories and jokes make it into the televised version.
