Lee Ann Womack played the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, CA on September 28, 2005. This was the first time I had been to this particular venue, and it's become my favorite place locally to see shows. The lighting is better than most, and the seating isn't cramped, and the showroom isn't smokey from the Casino, as the showroom is in its own separate building.

While I had never seen Lee Ann perform live, other than the few songs she sang on the Coliseum stage at this year's CMA Music Fest, I was really looking forward to the show. I have always liked Lee Ann's music, but had kind of fallen away as she produced her pop-country album. When There's More Where That Came From came out, I was ecstatic to hear the old "country" Lee Ann back again, and I just love the album to pieces.

Lee Ann opened her show with "(Now You See Me) Now You Don't" from her 1998 album, Some Things I Know. Moving to something more recent, she sang "The Wrong Girl." Someone in the audience said it was their birthday, and Lee Ann wished her a happy birthday.

Lee Ann sang her first single, "Never Again, Again" next, moving back to something from the new album, There's More Where That Came From, called "One's a Couple, Two's a Crowd." She then brought out a stool and said the next one was one she had written, and to remember she had been there before. This song was "Twenty Years and Two Husband's Ago."

An oldie but goodie, "Buckaroo" was a song Lee Ann said that gets requested a lot, and they were going to try and sing it. It's one that they don't do often, and probably had been about seven years since they'd performed it in a show. After the applause, she asked, "So, should we keep it in?" to positive replies.

Lee Ann said that during the making of the video for "Little Past Little Rock," she was pregnant, but didn't know it yet. They had her in a jeep and they were rocking it back and forth as she sang. She said she was so sick from that.

Lee Ann went comfortably back and forth between some of her older gems and her more recent, and even included a wonderful version of the Patsy Cline hit, "She's Got You." Although she didn't play an encore, she did perform for about an hour and 15 minutes, which is about average for a country concert. The show was very enjoyable, and I would definitely go see her again if she was in the area.
