After Rockie was finished on stage, Dianne and I got up to go back to the merchandise table where Rockie would be signing in between the shows. By the time we climbed over everyone and got to the back of the room the line was fairly long. Maybe 40-50 people were in line. We joined the line and were really looking forward to meeting Rockie. Unfortunately, as we were about 4-5 people away from meeting him, he had to stop signing, so we went back to our row and climbed over everyone again to get to our seats and wait for Josh's show to start. We were told Rockie would sign after Josh's set. We had our Meet & Greet with Josh then, though, so we kind of doubted he'd still be signing when we were done.
We waited another 10 minutes after we had returned to our seats and then Josh came on stage. He started his show with his current hit, "Would You Go With Me."
Next up was "Way Down South," complete with those low, low notes that had the women screaming. In between songs, some fans in the back screamed "We love you Josh." Josh said, I would say I love you too, but I can't see you.
Josh played songs from both of his albums, "Unburn All Our Bridges," "Jacksonville" and "Good Woman Bad," which he dedicated to all the California women, and "Your Man," "White Noise," and "Me and God." He also did a tribute to all his musical influences, singing Randy Travis' "Digging Up Bones," Keith Whitley's "No Stranger To the Rain," Waylon's "I Don't Think Hank Done It This Way," and John Anderson's "Swingin'."
Josh asked how many people watched CMT. Lots of people cheered. He said that sometimes CMT actually played country music, and that there is this program called "Crossroads" that he was going to be on with Randy Travis. It will be on August 11th, so check your schedule to tune in and watch it.
Josh was more playful than I've ever seen him before. He's usually a bit more reserved on stage. My friend Dianne said, maybe that was because Jennifer wasn't there. Not sure, but I really enjoyed the show. He played for about an hour and 20 minutes.
After the show, we got to meet Josh and get his autograph and a photo, but by the time we made it back to the venue, Rockie had left, so we didn't get to meet him. Maybe next time?
If you love good traditional country music, do yourself a favor and go see Josh in concert. His fan base ranges from young teens to senior citizens. He puts on a marvelous show.
