On Saturday, June 24, 2006 the attendance at the St. Louis, Mo Riverport Amphitheatre soared to a record breaking 20,000 fans. Fans gathered in anticipate for headliner Rascal Flatts and openers Gary Allan and The Wreckers. Tickets for this concert event are reported as selling out in the first nine minutes after tickets became available.
The Wreckers (Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp) opened the Rascal Flatts show with songs from their debut album, Stand Still, Look Pretty. They started with "Cigarettes" and "Rain." Then continued their set with "Crazy People." This single is a song that single women can relate to in regards to the type of men they attract. They closed with "My, Oh My" and their current single "Leave the Pieces."
Following the Wreckers, Gary Allan took the stage starting his set with the title single from his 6th album Tough All Over. He followed up with "Nothing On But The Radio," "Man to Man" a number one single, and his current single "Life Ain't Always Beautiful." Allan, voted 6th sexiest man in Country Weekly magazine introduced his next song, "I'd Rather Be Lonely Without You" as an unreleased song that he wrote and wanted to try out on the crowd. Riverport fans screamed and cheered their approval to this new song. Gary continued his set with "Tough Little Boys" from his See If I Care album, and "Best I Ever Had" a single he performed to help him get over the loss of his wife, who passed away two years ago. Then, Allan closed with "Songs About Rain," "Man Of Me" and "Right Where I Need To Be."
The crowd leaped to their feet as Rascal Flatts (lead singer Gary LeVox, lead guitar Joe Don Rooney, and Jay DeMarcus on multiple instruments) took the stage leading into their set with "Where You Are" from the quadruple platinum Feels Like Today, and "Love You Out Loud." I'm sure images of Joe Don from the "I Melt" single's video jumped into many fans minds as the group performed this single. The three time winners of ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the year played their No. 1 single "Feels Like Today."
Walking out on the catwalk into the crowd the group continued their performance with the following cover songs, "Hotel California," "Summer Of 69," "Another One Bites The Dust," "Sweet Home Alabama," and "Jessie's Girl." They included a guitar solo of AC/DC's "Back In Black." In the middle of their cover segment they sang "Mayberry," another No. 1 hit for the guys.
The group returned to the main stage to perform the heart touching single "Skin (Sarabeth)," continuing with "I'm Movin' On" and the Grammy Award winning single "Bless The Broken Road." They closed their show with "These Days", "Fast Cars And Freedom" and "Here's To You."
Rascal Flatts returned to the stage to appease the crowd and sang "What Hurts The Most" before they were joined by Gary Allan and The Wreckers to sing the final song "Keep Your Hands To Yourself."
