Jason Aldean - "Amarillo Sky"
Jason Aldean sold 500,000 copies of his self-titled debut with his first single "Hicktown," while his second single "Why" went to the Top of the charts. His third single from the record is another song that should be another big hit. Like the other two singles, this one was co-written by John Rich.
Lonestar - "Mountains"
Can Lonestar rejuvenate their career after the lemon of an album Coming Home? If the inspiring yet not preachy "Mountains" is any indication, they certainly have. There's a sound that is relatable and refreshing for the all too often balladry of Lonestar.
Julie Roberts - "Girl Next Door"
In a very smart move, Universal Nashville had Julie go in and record this Top 20 single for pop/rock act Saving Jane. This is the most radio friendly song that Julie's ever recorded. This is a song that really fits country music better than it did pop. Julie will have a Top 10 hit with this one, count on it.
Peyton Rivers - "The Power Of Love"
When writing these articles, I often find myself saying how an independent artist needs to really stand out to gain the attention of country radio. Despite a good vocal and a lyrically strong song, the production on this one isn't good enough so good luck getting this on radio. Sorry, Peyton.
JW Cooper - "The FEMA Trailer Song"
According to his website, JW Cooper is a Southern Gospel musician/songwriter/Minister who was displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Now living in a FEMA trailer, he injects a bit of humor into a still too sad situation. The song won't ever be a big hit but will work for a once in a while 'funny ditty,' especially on morning shows.
