Country Music Single Releases - What to listen for on Country Radio

Week of July 17, 2006

From Matt Bjorke, for About.com

Katrina Elam - "Love Is..."
Signed to a songwriting contract while still in high school, Katrina certainly has the complete package. I even thought her self-titled debut album was impressive enough to get her some hits. Sadly, it didn't. But, thankfully, her label decided to keep her so she could release this very nice song. Should be at least a Top 40 hit for her.

Kimberly Caldwell- "Who Will You Run To"
This former American Idol contestant's debut entry on the country charts is an intersting song. Stronger than any of the songs fellow contestant Carmen Rasmussen released, I wonder if it'll have enough promotion to be a hit. Maybe, Maybe not.

Dierks Bentley - "Every Mile A Memory"
The debut single from Dierks' third album, this one is absolutely perfect for his lifestyle and it's got a southern-rock melody in the background while never sacrificing the country. Dirks does the Opry proud. This one's destined to be another No. 1 for Dierks.

Montgomery Gentry - "Some People Change"
Kenny Chesney fans will recogonize this track for it was on his When The Sun Goes Down record. I always wondered why Chesney didn't release it as a 7th(!) single from that record, so I am glad that Montgomery Gentry is releasing it. The surprising thing is that Montgomery Gentry knock Chesney's version out of the water. It's not even close. This one's much better and a fine lead single from the duo's new album (perhaps it'll have the same title).
