Phil Vassar - "The Woman In My Life"
Phil Vassar returned to the top of the charts with "The Last Day Of My Life" and now he is primed to return there again with this great tune about his mother, wife and daughter. It's a song that both men and women can relate to, something Phil does so well. From his Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 CD.
Sarah Buxton - "Innocence"
I first heard Sara Buxton on Cowboy Troy's CD last year and am glad she got a deal with Lyric Street Records. This song is a solid first single with a good ballad groove that really showcases Sarah's rhaspy vocals. She has the potential to be a star.
Karen Taylor-Good - "On Angel's Wings"
A well-known and admired songwriter, Karen Taylor-Good has released a touching song about an aging elderly woman who was the center of the family but sadly is losing her grip on reality to Alzheimer's. Collin Raye sang this on his Tracks CD a few years back. It's a very good song and I hope Karen can get some sort of hit from it.
Sugarland - "Want To"
The first single is off the upcoming sophomore album from the (now) duo. It looks like a hit, feels like a hit, sounds like a hit. Strong stuff.
Vince Gill - "The Reason Why"
The first single from Vince's 4 disc epic of an album, "The Reason Why" is a very good, retro sounding ballad that shows off Vince's great vocals. After some tough times with his last few albums, I see no 'reason why' this song cannot be at least a Top 20 hit for vince. Martina McBride provides harmony vocals on the song too.
Lantana - "Country As A City Girl Can Be"
Uptemo, with strong production and some strong husky vocals, This debut single from new Texas trio Lantana could make its way up the country charts. Most likely though, it'll be a big hit in Texas and maybe a marginal hit nationwide. Still, it is a much better song than 90% of the 'indie' releases I hear.
