Guide Review - Reba McEntire - Reba Season 2
Reba is a divorced mom with a spastic family. Her ex-husband lives nearby with the wacky blonde he left Reba for. The wacky blonde, Barbara Jean, is determined to make Reba her best friend and has just enough of the ditz factor to pull off funny instead of stupid. The ex, Brock, is constantly caught in the middle. The oldest daughter, Cheyenne, the cheerleader type, lives with Reba along with the baby she had in high school and her husband Van, who is dumber than dirt with a heart of gold. The middle daughter, Kyra, is a brainiac with a smart mouth. The baby of the family, Jake, just tries his best to survive. If you don't get your laughs in while watching the dramas unfold, there is something wrong. This season is geared to the new parents bonding with baby Elizabeth while still trying to finish growing up themselves. Van takes a breather from his sports scholarship, without discussing it with Cheyenne. Cheyenne starts college and leaves Elizabeth home with Van and goes through guilt feelings of not being with her baby. Reba finds that Kyra is often the ignored one because she is the only one of the family who is so self-sufficient that she doesn't demand Reba's intervention to survive. Reba is forced to find a job in order to support her growing family and everyone just spends the season finding their niche with each other. My only complaint would be that there aren't any extras on the DVD's like bloopers or interviews with the cast.
