The Bottom Line

This is one of the best music videos I have ever had the pleasure of watching. The history and talent that takes one stage is phenomenal. Add to that the incredible history of the stage itself and you have a video that is an absolute treasure. I highly recommend it for any true country music collector. You will not be disappointed.

Guide Review - Various Artists - Grand Ole Opry at Carnegie Hall

Little Jimmy Dickens, Charley Pride, Bill Anderson and Ricky Skaggs take the stage side by side with Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins and Alison Krauss & Union Station. Little Jimmy Dickens is known for his sense of humor and it was a pleasure to hear him sing "May A Bird of Paradise Fly up Your Nose" along with Vince Gill. Trace Adkins sang a song that was perfect for the New York City crowd when he crooned "Songs About Me," a song about how country music relates to almost anyone because it is real music about real people. Ricky Skaggs performed a couple of songs with his award winning band Kentucky Thunder. And Trisha Yearwood was visibly awed to be on that famous stage. Martina McBride paid homage to Tammy Wynette with "Til I Can Make It On My Own." Alan Jackson kicked it into high gear country with "Chattahoochee" and Alison and Brad Paisley sang their mega hit "Whiskey Lullaby." The evening came to a close when the entire cast took the stage and sang a medley that included "I'll Fly Away, I Saw The Light & Will The Circle Be Unbroken." It was a once in a lifetime performance and one that can be enjoyed over and over again through the magic of the DVD player.

The included commentary is also very interesting and informative to watch and listen to. This was not the first visit that the Opry has made to Carnegie Hall, and seeing past visits in photos was a great trip down memory lane.
