It was a show that almost didn't happen! The rain both Saturday and Sunday proved to be a bit of a problem for many people but not die hard fans! Paul was scheduled to perform at the Riverfront Sunday at noon. The show was dubbed "Wild World of Country" - a show celebrating country music artists in other countries such as England, Canada and Australia. Upon arrival, we were told the show had been delayed and the one before that at 10:30 had been cancelled all together! They delayed it about 20 minutes and then came out to tell the few fans braving the rain and cold (yes cold in Nashville in June, believe it!) that they would get going shortly! We were so excited! Being Canadian and a huge Paul Brandt fan for years meant I had to be there rain or shine and I would be no matter what!
There was another reason that made it more important to be there this time as Paul was awarded the CMA Global Artist award for his contribution to country music over the years! It was a great honour and one Paul was very happy to receive. He smiled when he came out and saw his own Canuck cheering section of about 15 fans, many wearing Canadian flags and symbols to stand out. We all cheered as he accepted his award and were on our feet when it was time for him to perform, even through a bit more rain. He performed several songs including "I Do," "Leavin'," and "Convoy" (complete with his trucker radio attached to the microphone for the full effect). He had the entire crowd going, not just the Canadians and entertained us all! He was a great part of that show! Others who also performed in this show came from England and Australia.
