Trace Adkins Fan Club was held at the Belcourt Theatre on June 9th. The Trace Chasers arrived at 5:00 am for the 8 am sold out event. As you entered you were presented with an autographed Trace Adkins tote bag. Breakfast consisted of packaged rolls and donuts and fresh fruit.
The Big Guy pulled up in his Chevy Pick Up truck and the crowd went wild. He went to his bus to change out of his shorts and put on the tight jeans we all like.
Trace took the stage with two of his band members Butch and Brian. Trace started by introducing the two band members. He did an acoustic version of "Dangerous Man" off his upcoming album of the same name. He joked about the band members and with the audience. He had a Dora the Explorer band aide on his finger and explained he was working on his farm and hit is finger with a hammer.
Trace took a few questions from the Fan Club Members. Some one asked about a video for "Swing." He stated that the video was done and it was like a Bull Durham thing. He had not seen it yet, but it should be out in the next couple weeks. Another question was about a ballad off his new album called "The Stubborn One." He looked shocked and said "how did you hear about that one?" When asked if he could play it, he said yes, and explained that his grandfather had been taken by colon cancer and this song hit close to home, and started the song. This one is beautiful and you can tell Trace was getting emotional about it. He also did "You Came Here To Live" (another tear jerker) and then "Ladies Love Country Boys." This CD sounds like a 'must have,' and Trace said it will be out sometime in August.
He introduced his new road manager and then drew ticket stubs out for door prizes.
After his show Arlene Tatum and I went to the stage and presented him with a certificate to buy plum trees for his farm, and the certificate to tell him that money was donated to St. Jude in the name of him and his Fan Club.
Every member then lined up to get their picture taken with Trace.
