History of Cowpunk
Cowpunk began in the mid-1980s among punk and new wave musicians. Some wanted to play traditional country, but couldn't -- resulting in a blend of sensibilities. The bands were most often centered in the Los Angeles area. Others hailing from the South came by the country influence more naturally.
