In August 2012, Randy Travis was arrested after he reportedly crashed his car through construction barricades, and then stopped at a convenience store for cigarettes. According to the store owner, Travis didn't have the money to pay for the cigarettes; he was also completely nude.
The country singer was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony retaliation (for allegedly threatening the lives of highway patrol officers who arrived on the scene).
This wasn't Travis's first trouble with the law. In February 2012, he pleaded no contest to charges of public intoxication. Police had found him in his car with an open bottle of wine, parked in front of a church.
"I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl," Travis said in a prepared statement. "I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions."
