AboutCountry: When did you start singing and what was your first public appearance?
Kellie Pickler: I can't remember a time in my life where I never was singing. I've always sung, but I never really performed in front of anyone until I was like 16 years old.
AboutCountry: Most surprising thing a fan has ever said to you?
Kellie Pickler: I don't know if I should say this or not, but, well, it was really strange. This woman came up to me with her husband and she said, "You're the only person that I've ever given my husband permission to cheat on me with." It was really weird, so I guess that's the most surprising thing anyone's ever said to me. It was kind of an awkward moment.
AboutCountry: Do you have a fan club in the works and if so what would you like to call them?
Kellie Pickler: I think there's a few websites up, I know that there's this one called Kellie Fans Dot Com and I think it's the same moderator of Carrie's - I don't know what they call themselves, the Carrie Fans, I guess! I don't know, it's the same person that runs one of her other websites. There's a few out there. It's nice to think people are actually interested in you.
AboutCountry: What's your favorite song to sing?
Kellie Pickler: Anything by Dolly Parton!
AboutCountry: What do you miss most about leaving your small southern town and venturing out into a completely different world?
Kellie Pickler: Just being able to get where you're going without any problems, you know? I knew my way around there and I still don't know my way around Nashville. So I guess just being able to get in the car and go to the grocery store, or get in the car and go to Wal-Mart or wherever you need to go. It's inconvenient not knowing how to get anywhere, because I'm horrible at driving, directions, I never know where I'm going, I know where I want to go but I don't ever know how to get there!
AboutCountry: What do you look for when picking a song? Is it more the lyric that catches you, or the melody?
Kellie Pickler: I think whichever songs that are relatable, you know? I want all the songs that I sing to be a reflection of who I am and what I stand for. I think it's easier for the audience and the listeners and viewers to know you and relate to you when you're singing about honesty. Honest music, you know? It would be weird for me to get up and sing a song about drinking and throwing drinks back when I'm only 20, I'm not even 21, the legal drinking age. Number two, I don't even drink and have no desire to, so how am I going to sell an alcohol song? So I think it's just picking songs that are a reflection of who you are.
AboutCountry: Do you play any instruments?
Kellie Pickler: I don't. I can play the piano a little bit by ear but that's about it.
AboutCountry: Do you have a back up plan if the music business doesn't work out for some reason?
Kellie Pickler: I guess TV and film.
AboutCountry: Have you been approached to do any acting?
Kellie Pickler: We've had several different options come in, but we're just waiting until the right time to make any of those decisions. We just kind of want to keep that under wraps until the albums out and I want to establish myself as a country singer before we try to go down another path.
AboutCountry: What's next? Will you be touring?
Kellie Pickler: Absolutely! I'm planning to go on tour next year. It's undecided exactly who I'm going to go out on the road with and exactly what time, but we are starting to look into that as soon as possible. We're just trying to get the album out and see how well it does.
AboutCountry: What would you like to say to your fans out there reading this interview?
Kellie Pickler: I guess just thank you, guys! I really appreciate all of your support and I hope to make music that you like to listen to!
