HostJolene: And you are still very involved with doing the USO tours?

Craig Morgan:: I just got back from Iraq again over the Christmas holidays.

HostJolene: Great! And do you have another one coming up? I know you like to do it fairly frequently.

Craig Morgan:: I don’t have anything on the book right now. But we’re always looking at doing something. But with those kind of shows we just kind of wait and see what our schedule looks like and then work something in. I’ll always go whenever I can. In particular we like to go to the harder areas. Afghanistan, Iraq - places that they have a harder time getting talent to. I mean, I commend all of the entertainers that go to Germany and overseas like that. That’s great, cause those soldiers need the entertainment too, but I like to go to places nobody really wants to go because of the difficulty in being in some of those areas.

HostJolene: And unlike some other entertainers, you tend to get in deeper. Are you still in the active reserves?

Craig Morgan:: No, I’m in the inactive ready reserves.

HostJolene: So you’re able to…

Craig Morgan:: Grow my hair!

HostJolene: Grow your hair? *laughing*

Craig Morgan:: But I can communicate with those people, and I can shoot a weapon, so I don’t have a problem picking up a weapon if I need to do that.

HostJolene: But you are able to actually go closer to the front lines. Get the entertainment a lot further than a lot of other entertainers are able to do. And you’re willing to do that.

Craig Morgan:: I think a lot of guys don’t do that, just because they don’t know how safe they truly are. They are a little nervous about what they see on TV and the reality is that the media doesn’t give the security that is there justice. It’s a lot more secure there than what you see on TV.

HostJolene: You’ve already said that you’ve got a heavy, heavy tour schedule. What kind of venues are you playing right now? And are you touring with anybody?

Craig Morgan:: Yeah, right now I’m touring with Trace Adkins, and we’re doing coliseums or stadiums, I don’t know what you’d call them. It’s not 60,000 people. We’re playing for about 8,000 people – those size venues.

HostJolene: What’s it like traveling with Trace?

Craig Morgan:: I don’t really travel with Trace. We each have our own bus.

HostJolene: Do you do any songs together onstage?

Craig Morgan:: No, not really. We talk about each other, we do interviews together and we hang out with each other before the shows and after the shows. Stuff like that. But I have my own touring company, he has his own touring company and we travel that way. We may pass each other on the interstate, but we show up at the venue and see each other there. We may hang out together, shoot some ball or talk about hunting and fishing or whatever. Then I do my show, come off, get cleaned up and ready to do meet and greet and he does his show comes off and while the bands are loading he and I hang out, visit a little bit and then go to the next venue.

HostJolene: Are you going to be touring with him for awhile?

Craig Morgan:: Through April I think.

HostJolene: With the writing that you do, do you have a favorite song that you’ve written?

Craig Morgan:: I don’t know if I have a favorite or not. I’ve written a lot of music. I have favorites for different reasons you know? There are songs I like to sing because of what it says. Songs that I like to sing that I wrote, because it was the first song my wife really dug or that kind of thing. There are just so many reasons that I have favorites.
