Jennifer Webb: What approach do you take to writing songs? Do lyrics just "come to you" or do you sit down and devote time to writing?

Todd Fritsch: I do the majority of my writing when I am out working cattle on the ranch. I get a lot of ideas which I write down, and then, late at night when I am done with the day's chores, I try to get them roughed in a little better. When my producer and I write though, we actually schedule a time to get together, which is different for me but still cool.

Jennifer Webb: What kind of schedule do you have? Do you work on the ranch during the day and sing on the weekends?

Todd Fritsch: Ranching is a seven day a week job, so basically I have two full time jobs! *LOL* A typical day will find me doctoring cattle, riding fence or running the feed truck in the morning, heading into the house for a couple hours to call DJs and take care of the "business" end of music, then back out on the ranch to separate cattle, work the cow dogs, or feed again. Sometimes I do interviews with radio while I am working, which is interesting, because the cows always have something to say! On the weekends, I leave the ranch in time to get to the gig, sing, then usually try to travel home to start the next day at seven am or so.

Jennifer Webb: When you have some downtime, what do you like to do?

Todd Fritsch: I don't have downtime! (See above answer. *LOL*) If I did, I would maybe try my hand at fishing or hang with my friends, but usually there is no downtime to use.

Jennifer Webb: You've said you would like to model your career on Garth Brooks' career. What do you like most about the way he has handled his career?

Todd Fritsch: Garth is the ultimate businessman, showman, and all around innovator. He came along at a time when country music needed something new, and gave it to us tenfold. Two of the best lessons I took from Garth is: 1) know when a hit song is a hit song and do your best to give your fans as many of them to listen to as possible, and 2) always remember that your fans are the only reason you exist in this business, and they should always be number one.

Jennifer Webb: What made you decide to release a cover of Eddy Raven's song, "I Got Mexico"?

Todd Fritsch: My producer and I were just sitting around in the studio discussing what a great song this was, and he said he had always wanted to cut it on somebody. I was surprised, because I always sing it during my live shows, so he just told the engineer to roll tape, and we did it without even using charts. It was just one of those special moments, you know?

Jennifer Webb: Out of the three albums you've released, which one is your favorite?

Todd Fritsch: This one by far. This is the one that I think defines who I am as an artist and what I want to say. The other two were really just warm ups for what is happening now. I enjoy certain aspects of all of them, but this one is my baby!

Jennifer Webb: What has been your favorite song to sing live?

Todd Fritsch: "I Forgot That I Don't Live Here Anymore." Brian Burns gave me this hit song, and I'll always love doing it.
