Jason Aldean Biography:
After high school, he joined a band, and played in college towns in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. He began writing songs, and at this time met Michael Knox, who was at that time with Warner-Chappell song publishers. He was signed to a publishing deal, and moved to Nashville.
Several False StartsAldean was signed to a record deal, but was then dropped. He signed with another label, but was dropped again in 2000 for postponing recording sessions repeatedly.
One night, after a showcase at the Wildhorse Saloon, Aldean met Lawrence Mathis, who signed on as his manager. This is where Jason decided he would give himself six more months to get a record deal, or move back to Georgia. Five weeks later, he was offered a deal from independent label "Broken Bow Records."
In early 2005, Aldean released his first single, "Hicktown." It was the first song released from his self-titled debut album. The song went on to become his first Top 10 single. The album also produced his first No. 1 with "Why," and another Top 5 in "Amarillo Sky." The album was produced by Michael Knox, who had stayed with Jason from the days when they first met when he worked with Warner-Chappell publishing.
No need to worry about a sophomore jinxAldean's second album was entitled Relentless. The lead single, "Johnny Cash," peaked at No. 6, and was followed by the ballad, "Laughed Until We Cried," which also went to No. 6. The title track was the third and final single to be released from the album. It peaked at No. 15 on the charts.
Earlier in the year, Aldean taped a live concert in front of a sold out crowd in Knoxville, TN which will be released as a live DVD later in 2009.
