Mindy McCready Biography:
Malinda Gayle McCready was born November 30, 1975, in Fort Myers, FL. At the age of nine, she began several years of opera training, with the intent of making music her career. After high school graduation, she continued to hone her vocal skills, and moved to Nashville at the age of 18.In Nashville, McCready sang demos, and one of her demo tapes reached Joe Galante of BNA Nashville. After having her sing for him live, he signed her to the label, and she released her debut album Ten Thousand Angels in 1996. The album went on to sell over 2 million copies, thanks mostly to the four successful singles -- "Ten Thousand Angels," "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)," "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now" and "Guys Do It All The Time."
In 1997, Mindy released her sophomore album If I Don't Stay the Night. The three singles release -- "You'll Never Know," "The Other Side of This Kiss" and "Let's Talk About Love" were much less successful, and the album itself didn't even achieve platinum -- a let down from the double platinum sales of her debut.
McCready's third album, I'm Not So Tough was released in 1999, and the singles released failed to break the top 50, and she was released from her label.
Mindy was signed by Capitol Nashville, and in 2002, she released a self-titled album. Again, the sales were not what was expected, and she was again dropped.
A series of personal problems
Since 2002, Mindy has been known more for her series of personal problems then for her music. She was involved with an abusive man who tried to kill her, became pregnant with his child, gave birth to the child, and has attempted suicide several times over the years. In 2008, she admitted being involved with baseball pitcher Roger Clemens back in 1990. After this news had been reported, McCready suffered a breakdown, and entered rehab for treatment.
It seems McCready will use her rehab experience in an upcoming reality show -- Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. She is reported to be one of the cast members for the show, which airs on VH1. The eight episodes will follow the real-life experiences of celebrities undergoing detoxification. The show is scheduled to premiere in 2010.
Mindy signed with Iconic Records, and she is currently working on recording an album, hoping to inspire the millions of women who have suffered from abuse everywhere, showing them that a comeback in life is a possibility.
