Montgomery Gentry perform their latest single, "Gone" on Nashville Star 3.

We're back for week two of Nashville Star, and Montgomery Gentry lead off the show with a live performance of "Gone."

After the Nashville Star intro rolls, we are back, with all the contestants are standing on the stage with LeAnn who asks everyone to give Montgomery Gentry another hand, which the crowd happily does.

Coming back after the commercial LeAnn says we will find out which contestant will be going home this week. BUT...before we find out, we are introduced to the judges. We have Bret Michaels, who asks us to give a big hand for his drinkin' buddies Eddie and Troy. Then, Anastasia Brown, and Phil Vassar. Then, we are introduced to Cledus T. Judd who says "After what happened on last week's show, I've decided to make myself a little more useful. So, I'll be standing just offstage with the official Nashville Star mop and bucket, just in case." He holds up a bucket with the Nashville Star logo on it. (For those of you who missed the first episode, Jenny Farrell had the stomach flu and had to leave the stage in the middle of her performance, so they were making a joke about that.)

LeAnn asks if we're ready to hear who will go and who will stay? The crowd roars with approval, but LeAnn reminds us that this is TV, and they're going to hold onto that information for a little while. Instead, they will have the contestants perform one by one, and the last person called is the one that had the least amount of votes and will be leaving.

The first finalist who will perform tonight is Jody Evans.

Jody sings "Crazy Little Thing Called Love."

My thoughts: Jody again is energetic, and does a heck of a job. He's got the rockabilly thing down pat.

Bret - I gotta be tough. Here's the thing. You do have energy. You rock. Let me just say this. I'm saying this to you because I don't wanna see you in a lounge, alright. I'm just saying this for real. Elvis and Buddy Holly have been done. And I'm just begging you. Next week. Just give me a little more you. That's all I'm asking. Cuz you are awesome. dude.
Jody - I understand it comes through, cuz that's all I've ever studied. It's all I've ever listened to.
Bret - I get it, and you got energy dude, let's make it happen.
Jody - I'll work on it for you sir.
Anastasia - I'm just asking you not to wear your heroes on your sleeve. And be yourself. Dig deep.
Phil - I love what you do, man. I think you got great energy. I want you to go on. Cuz I wanna see what else you can do. You got this thing down. I love it.

The next finalist moving on to week three is: Tamika Tyler.

Tamika sings "I'm Alright."

My thoughts: Tamika sure does have a powerful voice, and I like that she doesn't try to sound like Jo Dee Messina. Good job. I'm sure Phil Vassar loved it too, seeing that he wrote the song. ;)

Phil - I think you sing great. I love your song choice too, by the way. I'll tell ya what. I mean you're definitely one of my favorite sijngers in this competition. What do you think? (to Anastasia)
Anastasia - I think you are wearing a fabulous outfit. And I really do think you are the strongest singer so far of this entire contest. And I really do think you are a suck up. I mean look at the song choice. Come on now.
Tamika - I'll explain later.
Bret - Ut oh, alright I better cut to this real quick. And you'll have to explain that later to us, ok? You know what I said last week. You got a great voice. You are a great technician. You got a great energy. Here's the deal. And I mean this as a fan. Just bring me every bit of your heart and soul. Make the hair on my arms stand up. Let me feel you, because you've got it. So, let me feel you.

We head back to Cledus backstage. He says there has been a lot of controversy about Jenny not being able to sing last week. He talks to Jason and Jody and asks them if they think Jenny should have been able to sing. They both say that they do think that she should have been allowed to perform.
