Anastasia: "Have I said I love me some Tamika? I still say it's your competition to lose. You really need a little bit of tweaking on... since I'm raising the bar.. tweaking on your image, because your voice deserves that. I mean it's that good. Just a little bit."
Phil: "Aww...I love what she's got on. Looks good. What's wrong with that? I'd wear that. I think it's awesome. I think it's really, really great. And I think that your voice is strong. Three in a row. Freaky. I mean for you, three in a row, it's awesome."
Bret: "I love your drive. I love your drive, and I even love a little bit of the chip you have on your shoulder. Because, no, listen to me, that's what makes you great. That's what drives you in this business. These fans out here, these people love what you do, and to be a true star, just take that anger and turn it into passion. You've got it."
Next, Cledus who does a mini promo for Gaylord's Nashville Star packages.
The finalists are all gathered back on the stage.
LeAnn: "Jason, come over here." (He slides on over.)
LeAnn says: "I like the way that works... How does your little baby boy feel to see his daddy on tv every Tuesday night?" (Little baby boy? He looks to be about 6 or so)
Jason: "He thinks it's awesome. He gets a big kick out of it at school. So, he's pretty excited for me. He's been a long, good hard pusher of mine, so I'm pleased and happy to have him as a son."
LeAnn: "Alright, well good luck, and hopefully, you'll be here for many more weeks for him to watch you."
The person to make it through is... Jenny Ferrell.
Jenny says in her pre-recorded segment "I think I'm an original, and I'm unique. It's very important to me to make it through this next round, because I know the week following this is original song night, and I think that's my strong suit. I think my songwriting and my original songs is where I shine. And that would be where I have my edge on the competition. I think that's what's going to give me the fuel to catch up in that stretch I was talking about. The home stretch in the race.
Jenny chooses to perform Pam Tillis' "Maybe It Was Memphis."
This week, I'm going to start ranking each finalist in various areas, and then list my picks from first to last, based on the points received in the ranking.
LeAnn: "Now, I have to ask this question, cuz I have a lot of guy friends that are wanting to know. Are you single, are you attached, what's the deal?"
Jenny: "That's not fair. Yes, I'm single, at the moment."
LeAnn: "Are you looking?"
Jenny: "I'm looking. I'm always looking."
Phil: "You really did great. That's a really hard song to sing. Pam Tillis. You know, I'm looking forward to seeing your original songs. I think it's going to be important to you. I look forward to that. I really do."
Anastasia: "I agree with Phil. The camera loves you as well. LeAnn, did Bret put you up with that? No, no really. I love it. And you sang a good, good song for you voice, ok?"
Bret: "I can see my Jack Daniels advice worked, because you looked comfortable. And it's the first time in this whole competition I've really seen you step up. You look soulful. Your eyes looked comfortable. You look like you mean to be on this stage. Each week bring it. You gotta bring it."
And the next finalist to move on is... Jason Meadows.
Jason says in his pre-recorded segment, "Being a married man out on the road, and staying faithful to your wife, is probably the toughest thing that I'll probably face. It's almost as if you'd have to be choosing between either your music or your relationship with your family. Not letting temptation stand in my way. We can overcome that, and have this. We can look back 20 years from now and say 'Man, look at what we did.' I can't wait. It's exciting.
Jason chooses to perform Charlie Rich's "Behind Closed Doors."
LeAnn: "You know, every week, we see your wife out there being your number one fan. What does she mean to you?"
Jason: "Well, if I had to say one thing to my wife right now, it would be 'thank you for the life that you've given me. And I hope that we get the spend the rest of our lives together. I love you very much, baby.'"
LeAnn: Awww, how sweet.
Phil: "Good answer, dude. Good answer. Great song, Charlie Rich, man. Love that song. I think it was very sexy. I mean, I'm a guy. I got kind of tingly, I mean, you know. It's a hard song to sing, bud. You did a great job. I think you did great, buddy."
Anastasia: "That's a theme throughout your video, and I know you think your charm is lethal, but I think that song showed a little bit of limitation, in regards to your vocal ability. So, you need to bring a little bit more than your charm to the party."
Jason: "I can do it."
