In Jason's live performance, he chooses to sing "The Fireman."
I've decided to not do the rankings this week since we already find out who is eliminated, so there is no point to rank the four performances. So I'll give my thoughts on the four performances.
My thoughts: I think Jason did a great job, although I think he sounds so much like George Strait, and has been told that before, I would have thought he would have stayed away from George Strait songs. Regardless, he nails the song. :) It's really hard for me to pick who I think will end up being the Nashville Star. I know that Jason will be successful on country radio. He's got the sound and the looks, and the drive, and he would be a good choice.
Sara: "Great job Jason. Ok, tell me something. If you survive elimination after tonight's show. Tell the voters out there, why they should vote for you to be the next Nashville Star?"
Jason: "Well, I would say for one, I have proven the point that everything I do comes from right here (points to his heart). I wanna give back to you guys, and I've had the opportunity to do that through the charity. And God Bless y'all for everything that you've done for me. And, I just want you to know that this is my life, and this is what I want to do, and I hope you guys have enjoyed it as much as I have."
Sara: "Awesome. Great job. Well, let's see what the judges think."
Anastasia: "Great song choice. Love that artist, as you know. And you did a great job. I know you think you have this competition in the bag. But keep in mind that Jody's really unique, and Erika Jo's got some big chops, so don't go buy that new pickup truck just yet."
Bret: "Anastasia is a buzz kill. Now, I'm gonna tell you what I think. This is coming from a rock guy that loves country music. I say this. I think first of all, you're like a new breed of American cowboy. I dig the fact that you mix traditional with some modern. I dig it. The fact that you ride a motorcycle on stage. I love dirt bikes, so it's all good to me. Bring it again next week, 'cause I know I'm gonna see you here."
Phil: "You're solid, man. You're always great. You're a great performer, dude. You're doing great. Man, this is going to be a tough competition tonight, buddy. Good job."
Next to perform is Erika Jo.
Cledus: "Ok, real quick, this weekend a big weekend coming up for you. I know you got your prom this weekend. And I know it's none of my business, but who are ya taking?"
Erika Jo: "Well, nobody right now. I was actually kind of wanting to ask you. Would you go to prom with me, Cledus?"
Cledus: "First of all, thank you very much for asking. Second of all, your dad would blow my brains out, and third of all, Bret Michaels would be so pissed that the opening act got the chick over the rocker that he'd shoot himself. So, yeah, I'll do it."
They show a clip of Erika's trip home. Erika introduces her family and says how she loves the family atmosphere of her town. She talks about all the signs around town saying "Good Luck Erika Jo." Two months ago she went into Wal-Mart to buy some groceries and buy some cds, and now she went into Wal-Mart to sign cds. She's thrilled to have a cd with her singing on it. She talks about her fellow students in school supporting her, and then we are shown Erika Jo singing on stage.
In Erika Jo's live performance, she chooses to sing "Broken Wing."
My thoughts: I thought Erika Jo did a really good job with this hard song. Not sure that it was the best song for her to sing. Not many people can sing a Martina song well, other than the lady herself. Still, I think Erika did a great job, especially on that last note. I think it's too close to call whether Erika Jo or Jason will be the winner of the competition. Both are capable and I think both will be very successful.
Sara: "Wow, great job, Erika. Awesome. That's a really hard song to sing. Was tonight an all or nothing night for you?"
Erika Jo: "Most definately."
Sara: "Well, you did a great job."
Bret: "That's really, really tough song to sing. And I'll tell you, I think you do a great job. I think you have confidence. I think you have everything you need to be a Nashville Star.?"
Phil: "That was a ballsy move. I mean, to pull out that song. Martina's a great singer. You did a great job. I mean, that's unbelievable. Incredible."
Anastasia: "When I realized what song you were singing, I was getting ready to get booed. But, you nailed it. You have the 'Wow' factor, and you wowed me."
