The next finalist to perform is: David St. Romain.
In his pre-recorded video, David has this to say:
"Last week, when Anastasia told me my voice was my instrument. It reminded me of what I've always known. I'm not a great guitar player, I'm a singer. She was right. She knew. Which only tells me, that she's smarter than what I already thought she was. This week, I'm singing a ballad. I'm putting the guitar down. There's no mic stand. It's me and the microphone. And, I'm gonna bring it. *laughs* Just wait, ya'll. It's gonna be cool."
David performs "Must be Doin' Somethin' Right."
Blake: Well, I have a problem. I have a big problem. Since I can remember, I've liked girls. And, the way that you sang that song, just then, I felt something. I don't know what it was. Take that however you need it. I don't know what else to say.
David: It's the boots.
Randy: David, last week I told you that you had your priorities in the right place. This week, you had your notes in the right place. You had your heart in the right place. You went to the top with that performance, in my opinion, tonight.
Anastasia: I totally agree with my co-judges. I know.. I'm not gonna get my "boo" bonus tonight. Darn it. No, you were amazing. The point of this show is to learn. And, you are learning and growing so fast. You're number one in my book, right now.
Jewel: Glowing reviews. I still kinda liked you with the guitar, though. Don't forget about it, totally.
David: No I won't, I won't, I promise.
Jewel: You're from Louisiana, right? Are you a Saints fan?
David: Oh yeah! Definitely a Saints fan. How many people gonna watch the game out there? All I gotta say is, 'Who dey say they're gonna beat the Saints? Who dat? Who dat?'
Jewel: I have no idea what you just said, but it sounded pretty cool. David St. Romain, everybody.
My thoughts: I love David's voice, and this is a perfect song for him. This is my favorite male performance tonight.
The next finalists to perform is: Kacey Musgraves.
In her pre-recorded video, Kacey has this to say:
"This whole week I've gotten to you know, kind of befriend everybody, and really get to know all of the other contestants. I kind of forgot that I was in a competition, you know, hanging around everybody all day, and getting to know everybody personally. But, once you step on the stage, and the music starts up, and you hear everybody's comments, the gloves just kind of come off. It was really kind of weird to see two people go. It really hit me, like, this is it. This is real. It's just kind of scary, and you just gotta realize that one person's gonna win this thing. And, I could be kicked off at any minute."
Kacey performs "You Win Again."
Randy: Kacey... I don't know. That great Hank Williams song... I'm concerned it's too mature. It.. I don't think you've lived that song.
Kacey: I've been cheated on before.
Randy: But, I didn't believe it when you sang it.
Anastasia: Kacey, I think you might be doing the Texas two-step, because last week you took one step forward, and this week you took two steps back.
Blake: I gotta go with the Texas thing. You know what I missed this week, is the girl that was here last week, from Texas, that I could see that in. And I didn't see that this week. So, bring her back. Bring Texas girl back.
Jewel: Well, ok, they were a little bit rough on you tonight. But, I'm gonna give her a chance. I wanna give you a chance. How do you feel you did tonight?
Kacey: I don't know. I did what I know. I stuck to acoustic, like you told me last week. I don't know. I feel like I did a good job, but we'll see next week.
Jewel: Alright, Kacey Musgraves, everybody.
My thoughts: Wow, what a difference from last week. I think this is just a bad song choice for her. She's got a great voice, but she doesn't sound very good singing this song.
