In her pre-recorded video, Melissa talks about picking the song, "My Baby Loves Me Just the Way That I Am." She tells about how her husband loves her, even though she's not a size 6. She says she's singing to America, but especially to her husband.

My thoughts: Another great song choice. She really gave it some soul. Awesome job!
Jewel: Melissa, I was really worried when I heard that you were doing this song. There were times during the performance when I thought, oh, I want her to go up an octave. I want her to stretch this out. You saved it.
Jeffrey: For me, it was a little over the top for me. I also will add by saying, I hope that America doesn't think you're a shoe-in, and they're forgetting to vote for me. You've got the pipes, and you knock it out of the park every time.
John: I think you oversang it. If we were in the studio together, I would never, ever, ever sign off on you singing it that way. And, I think that Jeffrey's right in that you are the most powerful singer on the show. And math would say you ought to win the show. I don't want you thinking though that you've won the show.

Sophie says that they're going to use old boyfriends, and bad homecoming dates. She says she had a boyfriend that ruined her friendship with Laura for over 6 months.

My thoughts: This is so much better than last week. Of course, last week was awful. I thought the harmonies were better, also.
John: Well, I gotta tell you that it's hard for me to coment on this performance, 'cause I'm still so upset about last week. Why do you think it's ok to roll your eyes and disrespect Jewel on the show. I just want an answer to that.
Sophie: I didn't even know that I was doing it.
Jewel: Maybe you had a seizure. You look better than you've looked. Your harmonies have gotten worse as the weeks go by. You're lucky to have Jeffrey. I feel like the song fit you.
Jeffrey: Girls, you look really grown up. I hope that can carry you through to the end. I'm proud of the job, but it wasn't great tonight. We'll see what America says.

John: Let me just tell you this. I'm about to come out of my seat right now, because this is the performance I've been wanting to see from you this entire season. You've never looked better. You've never sounded better. You just took complete command of the stage.
Jeffrey: I can't say enough about your mentor... oh, that's me. Let me tell you something. You're a badass tonight. You took all those tears that you were crying backstage, and you put it into it. You killed it.
