Michael Peterson Reaching For The Stars
Michael Peterson joined fellow country artists Joe Diffie, Ty Herndon, T. Graham Brown and Chad Brock for a special concert to benefit the Special Olympics Tennessee.
The event was held at the Gibson Showcase in Opry Mills and featured a VIP dinner served by celebrity waiters, including Tennessee Titans Cheerleaders. The concert featured acoustic performances by the country stars, as well as a few other surprises, including a silent auction.
German Country Music Hall Of Fame Says Glückwünsche To Lynn Anderson January 29th
Lynn Anderson is being honored on January 29th by the Germany Country Music Hall of Fame at the 13th GACMF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARD GALA, staged at the Messehalle in Erfurt/Germany. Ms. Anderson will be inducted into their Hall of Fame.
The Gala is the most important event in Germanys country music community giving credit and honor to the most popular and successful artists and productions of the year. The highlight of the Gala will be the induction of a new member to the Hall of Fame, and this year this honor will be presented to Lynn Anderson," says Manfred Vogel.
Lynn Anderson has been a favorite singer of music lovers in Germany ever since she reined over the German pop music charts in 1971 with her smash hit Rose Garden. Lynn Anderson has been visiting with her German fans many times and she even recorded a couple of songs in the German language, Vogel commented.

Eddy Arnold, Carter Family Among Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients
The Recording Academy announced today that recording artists Eddy Arnold, Art Blakey, the original members of the Carter Family, Morton Gould, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jelly Roll Morton, Pinetop Perkins and the Staple Singers will receive The Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. Hoagy Carmichael, Don Cornelius, Alfred Lion and Dr. Billy Taylor will be honored with the Academy Trustees Award. Phil Ramone and JBL Professional have been named recipients of the Technical GRAMMY Award.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors lifelong artistic contributions to the recording medium while the Trustees Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the industry in a non-performing capacity. Both awards are decided by vote of The Recording Academy's National Trustees. Technical GRAMMY Award recipients are determined by vote of the members of the Academy's Producers & Engineers Wing and the Academy's Trustees. George Canyon Has #1 Video On CMT Canada's Top 20
George Canyon's video for "I'll Never Do Better Than You" reached the #1 spot this week on CMT Canada's Top 20. The video, shot in the Foothills region, just outside of Calgary, Alberta, has been in high rotation on the station since its release at the end of August. "I'll Never Do Better Than You" is the first single from his Universal South release, One Good Friend. The album debuted at #1 on the Canadian Country Soundscan charts during the first week of release on September 28th 2004.
Canyon, who will host The 2005 EAST COAST MUSIC AWARDS live from Center 200 in Sydney, N.S. on CBC Television Sunday, February 20 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT), is thrilled with this continuing success. In November he walked away with two Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia awards for New Artist/Group Recording of the Year and Country/Bluegrass Recording of the Year as part of Nova Scotia Music Week/RendezVous Folk! 2004. In September Canyon won The Chevy Trucks Rising Star Award at the 2004 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, where he was also nominated for Male Artist of the Year.
"I'll Never Do Better Than You" continues to get great airplay across Canada. It was a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Country BDS charts and remains near the top of the charts. A new single is expected soon.
