George Canyon Nominated For Juno Award For Country Recording Of The Year.

George Canyon was nominated today for Country Recording of the Year at the 2005 JUNO Awards. The JUNO Awards will be broadcast live from Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 3rd at 8 p.m. (9 p.m. Atlantic time). Canyon has had a busy few weeks. His brand new single, "My Name" was the number one most added track at Canadian Country radio in its first week of release and debuted at #37 on the BDS Country Spins chart this week. The video for the song, which is the second release from George's Universal South album, One Good Friend, was added into heavy rotation at CMT Canada. "My Name," which was co-written with fellow Maritimer Gordie Sampson, deals with the difficult subject of miscarriage and was written as a comfort for friends who had recently dealt with the tragedy. The response from fans has been overwhelming.

Canyon, who was born and raised in Nova Scotia, will host the 2005 EAST COAST MUSIC AWARDS, broadcast on CBC Television Sunday, February 20 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) live from Centre 200 in Sydney, N.S. Sister Hazel Asks Fans How “Change Your Mind” Has Changed Their Life In An Upcoming Book

Sister Hazel’s Top 10 Hit “Change Your Mind” encourages listeners to literally change their way of thinking to enable them to “lift” their spirits and change their lives. The lyrical message reads, “If you want to be somebody else, if you’re tired of fighting battles with yourself…Change Your Mind.” Ken Block, Sister Hazel’s lead man, has initiated an effort to ask fans directly what the song and the band means to them in a new project, slated for release in 2005. However, this time the encouraging words will be expressed differently, in written form. Responses to the song will be featured in Block’s new book entitled Change Your Mind which will be co-written with Alison Hammer.

"Ever since the release of ‘Change Your Mind,’ people have felt compelled to tell me how much the song has impacted their lives,” Block comments. “The stories that we've received have been personal and overwhelming. Everything from people dealing with painful relationship issues, to facing life threatening illnesses, to overcoming addictions and countless others. We received responses from people all over the country because of the connection these folks have made to the song. I'm honored that it's meant so much to so many, and I thought that by putting some of these stories in a book, that even more people could be inspired to change their minds and change there lives." SHELLY FAIRCHILD:
Today (February 7) marks the add date for Shelly Fairchild's new single, "Tiny Town." Shelly is very close with her family and this song reflects the excitement and sometimes loneliness of striking out on your own to pursue your dreams. Shelly's headstrong adventuresome nature led her to Nashville to pursue her dreams of being an artist. That same daring spirit led her to learn to ride a Harley and to become a cover girl for the latest issue of FHM Magazine. Check out the March issue featuring Shelly and seven other country artist women.

BUDDY JEWELL:
Buddy's debut smash hit, "Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)" will be included in the TOTALLY COUNTRY Vol. 4 CD releasing tomorrow, February 8, with artists such as Gretchen Wilson, Montgomery Gentry, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, and Sara Evans. The special will feature videos from the CD and includes a special acoustic performance by Buddy Jewell of his new single, "If She Were Any Other Woman."

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Buddy has special plans for his wife, Tene. Buddy is sending Tene on a treasure hunt by giving her clues leading to a jewelry store and ending up at a romantic restaurant for dinner. "If She Were Any Other Woman" she'd miss out on this very romantic gesture. More news on Montgomery Gentry, Travis Tritt, and Gretchen Wilson
