Chely Wright Goes on The Road

To commemorate the official release of her latest project, Chely Wright will take to the road visiting cities across the nation to promote The Metropolitan Hotel. The album is scheduled to be released February 22 under the collective effort of Painted Red Music Group and Dualtone Music Group.

Beginning Tuesday, February 22, Wright will make personal appearances at various Wal*Mart stores across the country, including San Diego on February 22, her hometown of Kansas City on the 23rd and in Daytona on Thursday, February 24. The in-store appearances at Wal*Mart are sponsored by Dr. Pepper and local radio stations. More...

Conlee on ‘Hannity & Colmes’

John Conlee will appear on an upcoming episode of FOX News Channel’s Hannity & Colmes. Conlee taped a segment with Hannity & Colmes while in New York City on a recent trip to welcome home Citizen-Soldiers of the 854th Engineer Battalion.

Conlee’s latest single, “They Also Serve,” is a tribute to the family and friends of troops serving the United States. The accompanying music video, Conlee’s first in 20 years, was shot on location at the 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, KY and is currently airing on the Armed Forces Network.

CMT Launches New Alt Country Series

CMT will premiere its new series Wide Open Country on February 20. The show airs at 9 a.m. ET and will feature alt country, bluegrass and Americana artists. The debut episode will feature world premiere videos by Steve Earle, actress/singer Minnie Driver, Old Crow Medicine Show and The Duhks.

New episodes will premiere in the show’s regular time slot, each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Destiny's Child, Country Music Stars LeAnn Rimes and Big & Rich to Headline Entertainment During the 2005 NBA All-Star Game Thursday February 17, 2:43 pm ET

Destiny's Child, one of the biggest- selling female groups of all time, will join Grammy Award-winning superstar LeAnn Rimes and genre busting country duo Big & Rich as performers during the 2005 NBA All-Star Game. The All-Star Game from Denver will be televised on February 20 at 8:00 PM (ET) on TNT, Rogers Sportsnet in Canada and heard on ESPN Radio and in several languages on NBA.com. The festivities will be televised to a global audience reaching 214 countries.

The country music inspired halftime will feature singing phenomenon LeAnn Rimes performing "Nothin 'Bout Love Makes Sense" from her newly released album This Woman, which was the #3 biggest selling album in the country, and the #2 best-selling country album on Billboard's Country Albums Chart. Breakthrough artists Big & Rich, who were nominated for a Grammy Award this year for Best Country Performance for a Duo or Group, will entertain fans with "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" and "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big & Rich)" from their multi- platinum debut album Horse of a Different Color. Stetson Fragrances announced today an exclusive agreement with Shania Twain to develop and market a fragrance line.

First Week Album Sales Hit Career High For Lee Ann Womack

MCA recording artist Lee Ann Womack debuts on top this week with her latest release, There's More Where That Came From. Womack's seventh album lands at #3 on SoundScan's Top Current Country Albums Chart, garnering her biggest one-week total in SoundScan history with 83,372 units sold and the #12 spot on the overall Top 200 chart making More her highest debut ever.

"This is an exciting time for me as well as our industry," said Womack. "Like Loretta said on the Grammys, there are a lot of people out there who want to hear country music."

The Grascals Debut At #3 On Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums Chart

Rounder Records bluegrass group The Grascals debuted at #3 on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums Chart with their self-titled CD (Feb. 26 issue). This is the highest debut for a bluegrass group's debut album since Billboard launched the chart in July 2002. At the same time, the commercial single containing "Viva Las Vegas," the group's duet with Dolly Parton, re-entered Billboard's Country Singles Sales chart at #8. In addition to "Viva Las Vegas," the commercial single includes the Harley Allen-penned "Me and John and Paul" and an instrumental called "Sail Away Ladies."
